People criticise hike in rail fares ahead of new budget.

Mumbai /New Delhi, June 21 (ANI): Commuters, on Saturday , criticised new government after it pushed through a steep hike in rail passenger and freight fares, the first dose of the "bitter medicine" Prime Minister Narendra Modi has warned, is needed to revive the economy. From June 25, rail passenger fares will increase by 14.2 percent and freight rates by 6.5 percent. Daily passengers said this will burn a hole in pockets of people belonging to middle and lower classes. People said they had high hopes from Modi as he had promised to contain inflation. Indian worker returns safely from Iraq

Navsari, June 21(ANI): An Indian labourer who was working in Iraq safely returned to his home town Navsari in Gujarat. Patel said he was unable to contact his stranded friends in Iraq due to no connectivity. Militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), along with other Sunni rebels, are reported to have abducted dozens of foreigners including Indian nationals as they swept through towns in the Tigris valley north of Baghdad in recent days. Congress worker's house attacked by unidentified gunmen in JandK

Sopore, June 21 (ANI): Unidentified gunmen barged inside the house of Congress party activist Khazir Mohammad Naikoo in Baramulla district of Kashmir and opened heavy fire upon their family members. In the firing that started around 9:05 pm Friday night, two persons identified as Nazir Ahmad Naikoo, son of Khazir Mohammad and his cousin Shabir Ahmad, suffered critical injuries, and the duo were immediately shifted to Sub-district hospital, where Nazir succumbed to injuries. Congress retorts as BJP says rail fare hike was Congress' decision

New Delhi/ Mumbai, June 21 (ANI): BJP leader, Prakash Javadekar on Saturday said that the decision for the rail fare hike was taken by previous Congress government. Mumbai, June 21 (ANI): Residents of unauthorised Campa Cola Housing Society in Mumbai refused to budge on Saturday saying they would continue their silent protest against demolition drive. Residents protested against Mumbai's civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), who had arrived at gates of the society for eviction. Distraught residents refused to vacate their homes and were willing to go to jail to prevent the BMC from razing down their houses. Congress protests over railway fare hike against NDA govt

New Delhi, June 21 (ANI): Congress workers in Delhi staged protest on Saturday under DPCC Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely over the hike in railway fare by 14.2 per cent and the subsequent hikes in other articles as a result of the same.
