Jammu and Kashmir, Sep 07 (ANI): In a joint operation, staff of Indian Army and Air Force rescued security personnel of paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) and civilians from flood-affected areas in Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities declared a disaster alert after two days of heavy rain hit villages across Kashmir, causing the worst flooding in two decades. Heavy rain is expected and the state's main river, the Jhelum, and its tributaries are flowing several feet above the danger mark. Flash floods triggered by heavy downpours caused destruction as authorities closed four bridges connecting the two parts of Jammu after suffering severe damage.
