Maoists demolish school building in red corridor of Jharkhand

Latehar, Aug 16 (ANI): Maoists of Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) attacked a school building and damaged it in Latehar district of Jharkhand recently. The residential school, situated in Domakhar village of Garoo police station limits in the district, was previously demolished by the Maoists a year back and the rebel group had proclaimed an order to stop any construction work in this school. However, the school authorities decided to construct six classrooms with infrastructure facilities to boost study patterns and methods for the students and teachers of the school. Principal of the residential school, Suresh Kumar Gupta, said the administration had spent 16,00,000 rupees for the construction of the six rooms, which the Maoists demolished. Aug 16, 2014

Mother Nature shoots her fury across northern India in form of landslides and floods

Tripura/ Himachal Pradesh/ Uttarakhand, Aug 16 (ANI): Heavy rainfall due to a cloudburst in various parts of India on Friday wreaked havoc, cutting-off villages, washing away roads and bridges at several places and killing scores of people. In Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, 17 people have been buried alive as dangerous landslides hit the hilly region, where torrents of rainfall have been hitting for nearly weeks now. Meanwhile, cities of Dehradun and Haridwar have not gained any sort of respite from Mother Nature’s fury as 20 persons were killed when their houses were washed away due to landslides and floods. Commonwealth games medalists receive warm welcome in India

Lawyers back Chief Justices remark over judges appointment bill

New Delhi, Aug 16 (ANI): The Indian lawyers have approved of the statement given by the Chief Justice over judges’ appointment bill which has been recently passed unanimously in both houses of the Parliament. Chief Justice of India, R.M Lodha, said he hoped that judiciary, executive and Parliament are allowed to work independently and without any interference. Sushma Swaraj arrives in Singapore to strengthen ties
