New Delhi/ Lucknow, Aug 30 (ANI): Political leaders on Saturday reacted over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Japan visit which began today. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that all political leaders holding important offices take foreign tours but it is worthy only if it brings something good for the country. NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that Modi's return will tell what the visit was like. JD (U) leader Ali Anwar said that a delegation of businessmen will help Modi in dealing foreign trade with Japan. SP leader Rajendra Chaudhary wished good luck to the PM for his journey. Meanwhile, BJP leader Nalin Kohli said that PM Modi's visit is being looked forward to by both countries and hoped that it will be termed as a historic visit. Aug 30, 2014

Family mourns death of Indian fisherman in Pakistani jail

Diu, Aug 30 (ANI): Family of an Indian fisherman, who died in Pakistani jail, mourned his death in Diu town of Union Territory Daman and Diu. The family came to know about the tragedy after receiving a letter from Pakistani government that however, didn't mention the cause of death. The family urged the Pakistani government to release his brothers, who were also arrested along with him. Nuclear-armed neighbours share a vast un-demarcated coastal border and officials say fishermen on both sides ignore rules in search of fish and frequently stray into other country and end up spending years in their jails. Historian Bipan Chandra dies at age of 86

New Delhi, Aug 30 (ANI): Prominent Indian author and historian Bipan Chandra died on Saturday morning in his sleep at the age of 86. Chandra was considered to be one of foremost scholars on India independence movement and was an authority on Mahatma Gandhi. According to family sources, he died around 6 AM on Saturday morning at his home in Gurgaon. He had not been keeping well over the last few months. Chandra taught at the University of Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru University and was also associated with the University Grants Commission of New Delhi.
