Infosys names former SAP executive Vishal Sikka as CEO

New Delhi, June 12 (ANI): Infosys Ltd on Thursday named former SAP AG executive board member Vishal Sikka as its CEO. With his appointment, Sikka becomes the first non-founder CEO of Infosys, which is India's second-largest IT services exporter. The company also informed that Executive Chairman NR Narayana Murthy would step down on Saturday, nearly a year after he was brought in from retirement to help the company better compete with rivals including Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro. Seventh body recovered from Beas river, search still on

Mandi, June 12 (ANI): Rescuers recovered a seventh body from the River Beas on Thursday. A search is still on to find the remaining 17 bodies from the river which had swept away 24 college students and a tour operator earlier this week. Meanwhile, a team of Navy officials visited the place and is likely to assist in rescue operations. More divers with latest equipments are also expected to join the search operations. The students, belonging to VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology in Hyderabad, were clicking photographs when they were swept away by the river after the officials released water from the Larji Dam located upstream. Minor girl found hanging from tree in Moradabad, family alleges rape

New Delhi, June 12 (ANI): A 16-year-old girl was found hanging from a tree in Rajupur Milak village in Moradabad district on June 12. This is the third such incident after the Badaun rape case, where two teenage Dalit girls were found hanging from a tree. The girl's family has alleged that she was raped and murdered after being reported missing the previous evening. Environment Ministry to ease norms for projects within 100 km from LAC

New Delhi, June 12 (ANI): The CBI has filed an FIR and taken over the probe in Badaun rape case where two Dalit girls were found hanging from a tree in their village. CBI Director Ranjit Sinha said that Government of India has handed over the case to CBI and it will soon begin probe. Campa Cola residents face eviction as deadline ends today

New Delhi, June 12 (ANI): The deadline for the residents of Campa Cola society in Mumbai to vacate their flats ends on Thursday. More than 100 residents who are living in the nine buildings have to vacate their apartments today following the Supreme Court order. The plea of residents of the building living there for years, located in suburban Worli, was rejected by the Supreme Court on Tuesday. Woman allegedly gang-raped in Police Station in UP

Hamirpur, June 12 (ANI): A woman has allegedly been gangraped in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur by the Sub-inspector inside the station premises. The woman said that the she had gone to the police station to get her husband released but the Sub-inspector asked her for a bribe of Rs 20,000. The woman did not pay the bribe and was allegedly told that a false case would be lodged against her. She was later taken to a room by Sub-inspector where she was raped by the senior officer and three other policemen. The police have lodged an FIR and the Sub-inspector has been arrested. Jun 12, 2014
