Birthplace of renowned poet in Varanasi to be first E village

Varanasi, Sep 3 (ANI): As a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to develop smart cities in the country, a village of renowned Hindi poet, Munshi Premchand, which comes under Modi’s constituency of Varanasi, is set to develop as the first smart village. Lamhi village in Varanasi city in Uttar Pradesh will be equipped with all facilities and villagers will no longer have to visit other districts or cities for any administrative-related work. Data of each household will be collected and services would be just one step away. District Magistrate, Pranjal Yadav, said everything would be computerized and any application will be filled in the village itself. Data will be collected based on 36 points, including land, personal, income and others. A unique account number will be generated, which will be given to the villagers. On providing the unique account number, all the data of the person will be available. This will help villagers to avail facilities in their area only. Sep 3, 2014

Three day Indo Bangladesh secretary level talks in Dhaka on cross border crime

Dhaka, Sep 3 (ANI): A team of Indian delegates led by Home Secretary, Anil Goswami, headed to Dhaka to attend the 15th Bangladesh-India Home Secretary-level talks on cross-border crimes and border management. Senior Secretary of Home Ministry, Mozammel Haque Khan, led the Bangladesh delegation. The two countries are expected to discuss issues on border crimes, border management, land boundary agreement, counter-terror initiatives and reopening of immigration points, besides reviewing progress and implementation of existing protocols and agreements. A Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral co-operation for prevention of human trafficking and rescue and rehabilitation of victims is most likely to be signed. New Delhi, Sept 03 (ANI): Women activists on Wednesday condemned the killing of a teenage girl in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. A day after she openly challenged the verdict of a village kangaroo court chaired by a local Trinamool Congress leader, the naked body of a teenage girl was found near the railway tracks in Jalpaiguri. Her father has accused local TMC leaders and supporters of raping and murdering her. The girl, went missing immediately after the meeting ended late on Monday night. She had accompanied her father to a 'salishi' or meeting called by Namita Roy, the TMC councillor of the municipality. The court has asked the government to come with a stage wise plan to clean the holy river. The Apex court even offered to help the government.
