Puttaparthi, Nov 10 (ANI): Police arrested three accused for allegedly killing an Australian woman on the outskirts of pilgrim town Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh, said a senior officer. Superintendent of Police, Sriniwas Lu said Toni Anne Ludgate was murdered by the watchman of an apartment where she was staying. Ludgate was murdered by the security guard of her apartment complex with the help of two accomplices on August 28 as the guard was unable to return the rupees 20,000 he owed her. Earlier, police exhumed body of Ludgate, who went missing over two months ago. Nov 10, 2014

India postpones day tourism at Wagah border in view of blast on Pakistani side

Amritsar, Nov 10 (ANI): India's Border Security Force postponed the Day Tourism at Wagah border in Punjab which was scheduled to kick off from November 10, after a suicide bomb attack killed scores of people on the Pakistani side last Sunday. At least 60 people were killed and 110 wounded when the explosion ripped through a car park about 500 metres (yards) from Pakistan's border gate just as hundreds of people left the daily performance. The plan for Day tourism was for tourists who reach early at the Wagah border and the security forces were to give them a tour of the area since the main ceremony is held in the evening. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), MF Farooqui said that the new activity would need elaborate security for the crowd that was expected to turn up for the day tourism. Karachi/ Islamabad, Nov 10 (ANI): Pakistani Christians recently held protests and prayers for a Christian couple who were beaten to death and their bodies burned for allegedly desecrating a copy of the Koran earlier this week. About two hundred people from the Christian community took to streets of the southern city of Karachi holding banners, placards and holy crosses. In the capital Islamabad, about hundred men and women gathered to express solidarity with the couple. They held placards and sang dirges. Smaller protests were held in other cities and prayers were offered in churches. Blasphemy charges, even when they go to court, are punished by death in Muslim-majority Pakistan. A torpedo recovery vessel sank off India's coastal city of Visakhapatnam killing at least one person. Dhowan promised to extend all help to the family of 26-year-old sailor, James Jacob. Visakhapatnam, Nov 10 (ANI): Fishermen in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh remain a worried lot concerning their livelihood as repeated warnings of rough weather by the meteorological department has rendered them unable to venture into the sea for over a month now. Sources from the meteorological department warn that a fresh low pressure is likely to form near the Andaman Sea between November 9 and 11 which may intensify into a cyclonic storm or severe cyclonic storm. The fishermen complain of not having received any kind of help by the state government. Earlier, cyclone Hudhud that smashed the coastline of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and killed at least 25 people, left the panicked survivors struggling for basic necessities like food and water. Manipur, Nov 10 (ANI): Yumnam Sanathoi Devi is one among the few Wushu players in the country. A resident of Yairipok Top Chingtha village in Thoubal district of Manipur, she won a bronze medal at the recently concluded Incheon Asian Games. Her next targets are to win gold medals at 2015 World Wushu Championship and Rio 2016 Olympics. Sanathoi took up Wushu, a traditional Chinese martial arts in 2003 under the guidance of Maibam Surbala Devi and later under Moirangthem Ibomcha Meitei. She later availed training by the Sports Authority of India. Hailing from a poor family, Sanathoi had to struggle a lot to reach at this stage. Pursuing her graduation, Sanathoi also helps out her family in making clothes in looms during her leisure time.
