Two militants killed in encounter in Sopore

General visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport was below 50 metres early this morning. Satellite towns Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad also reported dense foggy conditions. Fadnavis calls Mumbai marathon a festival to celebrate spirit of freedom

This year's edition of the marathon will both start and finish at the Azad Maidan sports ground in South Mumbai. Censor Board row: Issue being politicised, says Anupam Kher

Mumbai, Jan 18 (ANI): As nine more members of the Censor Board resigned protesting against alleged interference by the government, former censor board chairman and veteran Actor Anupam Kher said that the allegations levelled by former censor board members against the government were not correct and added that the issue was being politicised. I and B Minister Arun Jaitley firmly rejected the charges, saying the "NDA government maintains an arm's length distance" from the functioning of the panel. "The UPA Government had politicised the Censor Board," Jaitley said in an article titled 'Rebels without a cause' posted on Facebook. Censor Board Chief Leela Samson stepped down from her post on Friday, amid controversy surrounding the clearance of controversial film "Messenger of God" featuring Dera Saccha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and citing interference, coercion and corruption of panel members. McDonalds suspends Pune outlet staff member for allegedly throwing out a street kid

Pune, Jan 18 (ANI): Taking action for throwing out a street child from its restaurant in Pune, McDonalds suspended the staff member involved in the incident. The action comes after the Maharashtra government intervened in the matter. Promising an enquiry, McDonalds in a statement had said, "McDonalds India is investigating internally an issue that has been reported on an incident involving a street child. The concerned security personnel involved in the incident have been suspended pending completion of an enquiry." Further, the Pune outlet also faced anger by people. Election Commission issues notice to Kejriwal over his allegations on Satish Upadhyay

New Delhi, Jan 18 (ANI): The Election Commission of India has issued a notice against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal with relation to the allegations made by him on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Delhi unit Chief Satish Upadhyay over power discoms. The Election Commission has asked Kejriwal to explain the matter by January 20, the same day the AAP chief is scheduled to file his nomination for upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The step was taken after Upadhyay had filed a complaint against Kejriwal for making "false, baseless and unverified allegations" against him. Encounter underway in J and K's Sopore area, two terrorists reportedly trapped

Sopore, Jan 18 (ANI): A gun battle between the security forces and militants is currently underway in Sopore area of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces cordoned off Saidpora village in Sopore following information about presence of militants in the area, a police officer said. According to reports, as the forces closed on the target house, the militants opened fire which was retaliated, triggering off the gunbattle. At least two militants are believed to be trapped inside the cordoned area, the officer said, adding there were no casualties on either side so far.
