Record number of anti-Semitic incidents blamed on ‘mood of racism’ in UK following Brexit

Tensions surrounding Brexit have been partially blamed on the record number of anti-Semitic incidents in the UK in 2016. The Community Security Trust, a charity which protects British Jews from anti-Semitism and related threats, reports that more than 1,300 incidents took place last year. This includes anything from Jews receiving abuse in the street, to being violently assaulted because of their religion. The charity also says the controversy surrounding anti-Semitism in the Labour Party contributed to this rise. Feb 2, 2017

Argentines set world record for most people floating at one time

Nearly 2,000 people floated in a line in a salty lake in Argentina on 29 January, setting a new Guinness world record for the most people floating while holding hands. Exactly 1,941 people floated simultaneously for 30 seconds in Lake Epecuen. The record attempt was officially certified by the Guinness Book of Records, and has taken the title from 634 people floating in the Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan in 2014. Feb 1, 2017

BBC presenter Jeremy Vine road rage video could see motorist jailed

A driver who screamed abuse and made a gun sign at Jeremy Vine as he rode his bicycle down a narrow street in London could face jail after being found guilty of road rage offences. Shanique Syrena Pearson, 22, was caught on the BBC presenters helmet camera as he cycled along a single-lane street in Kensington. Pearson has a number of previous convictions for assaults and theft, and was told on 1 February at Hammersmith Magistrates Court she could face prison after being convicted of the road rage offences. One person killed and three injured at stabbing near CNN headquarters

One person is dead and another three others were injured after a stabbing attack on 31st January in Los Angles, California, near the CNN news headquarters. Margaret Stewart, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department, told the Los Angeles Times three people suffered injuries ranging from gunshot to stab wounds and taken to local hospitals.
