Scientists feel proud on success of Mars Mission

All the scientists said that the mission was extremely important to India as our country becomes the first to be successful in Mars Mission's maiden attempt. The scientists also felt that this success will open new fields for improvement and advancement in science and technology. Bangalore, Sep 24 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated the scientists for the success of the Mars Mission. Modi said that ISRO has joined an elite group of science research agencies who have been successful in the mission of reaching Mars and added that India is the only nation to be successfully in its maiden attempt. He lauded the scientists for creating this success for India in a budget even less than that of some Hollywood movies. Modi then urged the countrymen to celebrate this grand victory which has created history for India in the world. Landslide in Meghalaya kills eight

Meghalaya, Sep 24 (ANI): Eight bodies were pulled out from debris after landslide, triggered by heavy rains, wreaked havoc in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. At least 22 people have died in flooding and landslides triggered by heavy rains in remote northeastern India, in the second flood tragedy to hit the subcontinent this month. Rescue workers said 17 people died in the mountainous state of Meghalaya and five in Guwahati, the biggest city in the region. Authorities have deployed hundreds of rescue workers to the area. Pramod Kumar Tiwari, the head of Assam's Disaster Management Authority, said more than 50 villages were hit by flash floods in the Garo Hills district of Meghalaya. Sep 24, 2014

India's maiden Mars mission successful

Bangalore, Sep 24 (ANI): India's maiden Mars mission was successfully accomplished after the spacecraft entered the orbit around the red planet early on Wednesday (September 24). Indian space agency ISRO's low-cost mission to Mars successfully entered Mars, crowning India as the first country to execute such a project in its maiden attempt. The spacecraft, called Mangalyaan, was launched in November last year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself closely watched the final phase of the launching at ISRO in Bangalore. The success of the Mars Orbiter Mission, lauded for its low price tag of $74 million, will boost India's five-decade-old space programme that Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to expand with better infrastructure and technology. Under the theme of 'Emerging Youths, Emerging Talents' Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Delhi (TKLD) organized the 11th edition of "Yarthot Kazip" or fresher's meet at Thyagaraj stadium. Music, dance and fashion parade - the fun filled affair was attended by many Tangkhul Naga community and students. The celebrations not only aimed at making freshers comfortable but also were meant to introduce them to their seniors and others Nagas residing in the national capital. MP from Nagaland Neiphiu Rio also addressed the event. A group of Student performed the Tangkhul folk song in colorful traditional attire. During the event many young artists showcased their talent in singing and dancing. The audience was mesmerized by their performance.
