Moradabad, Nov 16 (ANI): Twelve people died and four others were injured when a bus carrying 16 passengers collided head on with a truck in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. City superintendent of police Pradeep Gupta said that around 16 passengers were traveling in the bus and they were about to attend a religious event. PM Modi unveils Mahatma Gandhi statue in Brisbane

Brisbane, Nov 16 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday unveiled the statue of iconic freedon fighter Mahatma Gandhi in Brisbane Australia. Modi unveiled the statue even as supporters cheered him and shouted slogans at the Brisbane's Roma Street Parkland. Modi also offered flowers and paid his respect to Gandhi. Former honorary Indian consul in Brisbane Parsram Punj also participated in unveiling of the Gandhi statue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the city. PM Modi is in the Australian city for the 9th G20 summit. The Prime Minister has planned extra events in Brisbane during his four-day visit including the unveiling of the statue, talks with Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, among other events. PM Modi's visit to Australia will hopefully strengthen ties with the near 300,000-strong Indian diaspora in the country, with a friendly tax regime for non-residents and options for dual citizenship on the wish list. A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Secretary Subhas Das said tourism is among the most flourishing sectors in the world and plays a significant role in generating employment. Rajouri, Nov 16 (ANI): School children in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir risk their lives to go to a school by crossing a river as there is no bridge over it. Students in Nadpur Dhallian village cross River Manawar on a boat everyday to get to their schools while locals also have to go by same mode to get to the other side. People complain that even after repeated complaints, the administration did not construct a bridge. A school teacher, Isher Singh said that if a bridge is built, more children would come from nearby villages to attend school. Singh also said that many parents feared sending their children to school as there were several incidents of children and villagers getting swept away or drowning in the river water. Meanwhile, the assembly polls in the state are scheduled to take place from November 25 and the five-phased elections will conclude on December 20. Counting of votes will take place on December 23.
