Student leader of ABVP, Gaurav, alleged that members of the Samajwadi Party had full support from the local police as well as the administration. Ghosh, had taken dozens of sleeping pills yesterday morning. In the last hearing when he was produced by the CBI in the court, Ghosh had threatened that he would be forced to commit suicide if the persons whom he had named in the Saradha scam case were not arrested by CBI. Farmers protest against unchanged prices of sugarcane in UP

Lucknow, Nov 15 (ANI): Farmers in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday burnt sugarcanes as they protested against the state government for keeping sugarcane state advised price (SAP) unchanged for third year in a row. The price decided by the government for the 2014-15 crushing season for the common variety of cane is at rupees 280 a quintal, for the early variety, rupees 290 a quintal and for rejected variety, rupees 275. The farmers said the government has further slashed the prices of sugarcanes, whereas they have been demanding price to be hiked to rupees 320-350 while the millers demanded the rollback of SAP to rupees 225 ($ 3.63) a quintal. Last year in December also farmers had staged protest on the same issue by blocking key routes, including the national highway and also brought several buses and a train to halt. Nov 15, 2014
