Ayodhya, April 15 (ANI): Devout Hindus thronged temples on Tuesday to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman and enthusiastically participated in the festivities. Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated with religious fervour at the birthplace of Lord Rama, Ayodhya, to mark the day since lord Hanuman was an ardent devotee of Lord Rama. Devotees offered prayers and chanted hymns in praise of Lord Hanuman and offered flowers and sweets at the temple. Cheiraoba Festival usually takes place in the month of April. The name ‘Cheiraoba’ is a combination of two words - 'Chahi' meaning year and ‘Laoba’ to mean declaration, together ‘Cheirao-ba’ denotes the announcement of the coming year. Although this festival is mainly celebrated by Hindus, over the past couple of years, people from other communities in large numbers also take part in the celebrations.
