Oommen Chandy meets Sushma Swaraj over stranded nurses in Iraq

New Delhi, July 03 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, met Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj, on Thursday to discuss ways to bring back stranded nurses from Iraq. Nurses from Kerala, who are stranded in Tikrit city, have called for urgent help from the Indian government. Chandy said that the government is concerned about the safety of nurses and it is doing every bit to bring them back. Congress protests against Vyapam scam, demands CBI probe

Bhopal, July 03 (ANI): Leaders of Congress party protested outside state assembly in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday demanding central police probe into Vyapam scam involving many government employees who got selected through unfair means. Congress party protesters walked out of the state assembly in Bhopal and demanded resignation of Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, over his alleged involvement in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam. Congress leader, Ramnivas Rawat, said central police probe is the need of the hour to ensure justice to the students. Vyapam scam, also known as Employment scam, relates to admissions in medical and engineering colleges during the period 2008 to 2010 in which many government employees are under the scanner for getting selected through unfair means. SC rejects Asaram Bapu's bail plea

Jaipur, July 3 (ANI): Women Rights Activist, Kavita Srivastava reacted against the Supreme Court ruling on the Anti Dowry Law. She stated that the decision, which restrained the police of all states from "automatically" arresting the accused in dowry harassment cases on the grounds of misuse, was a terrible judgment. She argued that this ruling meant the end of all arrests and subsequently the end of criminal law. Fire at Jewellery Showroom in Bangalore cause destruction worth crores of property

Bangalore, July 03 (ANI): A fire broke out at the Navaratan Jewellers showroom in Bangalore causing traffic jam on the MG road on Thursday. The fire was noticed by staff when they came to open the showroom located on the first floor of the building. At least seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot to put out the fire. Trial run for high speed Delhi-Agra train begins

New Delhi, July 03 (ANI): With an aim to ensure high-speed connectivity between the two cities of Agra and New Delhi, the trial run of the semi-high speed train, which runs at a speed of 160 kmph was conducted on Thursday. The train will cover 200km between the two cities in 90 minutes. It would comprise 10 coaches and one locomotive. At present, Bhopal Shatabdi Express is the fastest train en route, which covers the distance in 2 hours. The semi- high speed service would tentatively be launched by November. The trial train left the New Delhi Railway Station today morning and is scheduled to reach Agra in 90 minutes. Jul 3, 2014
