It happens : Blind Car Rally

Gujarat, Feb 27 (ANI): Visually impaired people experienced car driving in Gujarat as they took part in a blind car rally on Sunday. At the rally the sighted drivers were navigated by visually impaired individuals, with their route mapped in Braille. Around 90 visually impaired navigators were selected to drive across pre-selected city circuit. The rally, which was organised by Ahmedabad Round Table 40, aims at making society aware of the challenges faced by visually impaired people. The cars in the rally also sent across other social messages such as “Save the Daughter” and “Clean India” as they bore stickers bearing the slogans. Feb 27, 2015

SC bars N Srinivasan from participating in BCCI AGM on March 2

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday barred N Srinivasan from participating in the BCCI AGM on March 2. The decision effectively means that Srinivasan will not be able to contest the BCCI elections. He was seeking a second term as Board president. Further, the ICC chairman has also apologised to the Supreme Court for attending a BCCI working committee meeting in spite of a court order asking him to stay away from Board affairs till his "conflict of interest" charges were cleared. Cricket Association of Bihar Secretary and also a petitioner in the case, Aditya Verma said that Srinivasan has only been granted permission to cast his vote. Feb 27, 2015

ATM van looted in Lucknow, Three dead

Lucknow, Feb 27 (ANI): Three security guards were killed after some unknown miscreants opened fire on them and looted cash from HDFC bank's ATM booth in Hasanganj area of Lucknow. Reportedly, the incident took place when the custodians of the cash van were in the process of refilling money into an ATM of HDFC bank. Lucknow Inspector General Zaki Ahmed said that almost 50 lakhs has been looted and that investigation is going on in the matter. Police are trying to get the CCTV footages of the incident. Storm kills one, displaces thousands in West Bengal

South Dinajpur, Feb 27 (ANI): A powerful storm flattened thatched houses and uprooted trees and electric poles in several villages in West Bengal. The storm accompanied by heavy rains hit Balurhat block of South Dinajpur. A man named Jatha Tudu, (35), resident of Vatpara village, died while several others got injured. An affected villager, Kamal Hasti, of Jalghar village said that they were inside their houses when the storm hit. Thousands of thatched houses were blown over in the powerful storm rendering more than 5,000 villagers of Jalghar and Vatpara homeless. The local administration has begun rescue operations. New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): South African swashbuckling skipper AB de Villiers ripped up the record books again as he smacked the fastest 150 runs in ODIs, off just 64 balls against the West Indies during their World Cup Pool B tie in Sydney. De Villiers surpassed the previous quickest set by Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, who reached this figure in 83 deliveries against Bangladesh at Mirpur in 2011. Economic Survey says GDP growth to top 8% in FY16; politicos react
