Shiv Sena minister Anant Geete to quit Union cabinet

Mumbai, Sept 29 (ANI): After the break-up of Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday informed that the party's lone member in the Union Cabinet Anant Geete would also resign. The Union Minister of Heavy Industries Geete, is about to quit after Modi returns from his US trip on Wednesday. BJP, who after the breakup with Shiv Sena said that they have no enmity with them, is yet to take a stand on the issue. Shiv Sena after ending its alliance with BJP in Maharashtra, had earlier said that those who broke the alliance were enemies of Maharashtra. Sep 29, 2014

Jayalalithaa loyalist O Panneerselvam sworn-in as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister

Chennai, Sep 29 (ANI): AIADMK leader and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's loyalist O Panneerselvam was on Monday sworn in as the new chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Panneerselvam, succeeds J Jayalalithaa who has been sentenced to four years imprisonment in Disproportionate Assets Case. Panneerselvam's oath taking was administered by Governor K Rosaiah after which his cabinet colleagues were sworn in. Panneerselvam and his cabinet ministers, including Natham R Vishwanathan and R Vaithilingam, were in tears during the oath taking ceremony. Panneerselvam took the oath along with 31 MLAs. All the ministers were members of Jayalalithaa's cabinet. Meanwhile, Jayalalithaa, has now moved to Karnataka High Court against the verdict and has asked for bail. Sep 29, 2014

New Delhi, Sept 29 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 29.21 points down to stand at 26,597.11. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 9.95 points down to stand at 7,958.90. STAR and AUROPHARMA were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 9.20% and 7.46% along with MUTHOOT FINANCE LTD. and BHUSHAN STEEL LTD. with an increase of 6.18% and 5.00% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include SUZLON and GMRINFRA with a decrease of 4.90% and 4.40% along with PFC and JINDAL STEEL and POWER LTD. with a decrease of 3.88% and 3.56% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 78.47 points at 17,757.23 while the banking sector is down 161.91 points at 17,697.97 and the reality sector is down 4.03 points at 1,624.46.
