Students fall ill after eating mid-day meal served at school in Bihar

Bihar/ Chittoor, July 06 (ANI): More than 50 students fell ill in Sitamarhi district of Bihar after consuming mid-day meal served at school. 54 children fell ill after eating the food in which a dead snake was found. BJP leader Manish Kumar said he got the information from a villager who informed them about a dead snake being found in the meal served to students. The children reportedly showed symptoms of nausea and all of them fell unconscious after eating the meal. In a similar incident, reportedly more than 60 children fell sick in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh after consuming the mid-day meal on Saturday.

30 low caste families facing social boycott in Odisha

Rayagada, July 06 (ANI): For the past nine months, thirty low caste tribal families of the remote Paikapada village in Odisha face the humiliation of social boycott by villagers belonging to a higher caste. These thirty families who belong to Sano-adivasi (lower class) group are boycotted by the group Bodo-adivasi (upper class) which consists of 80 families. The Additional District Magistrate from Rayagada, Laxmikanth Behara, said that he has been informed about the incident. The group was boycotted for refusing to consume meat during the celebrations in honour of the Hindu elephant god, Ganesha.

Maoists shoot down doctor in Jharkhand

Gumla, July 06 (ANI): A village doctor, Raj Kishore Singh, was killed by Maoists in Gumla district of Jharkhand. Doctor's son, Deepak Kumar Singh, said the incident occurred in Mahadev Chutia village within Gagra police station limits in the district on Friday night. Villagers, though aware of the truth, refrained from speaking about the incident due to fear of the rebels and their threats. The reason for the killing is unknown and the Gumla police have sent the body for post-mortem.

BSF bringing smiles to children with cleft lips and palates

Car rally flags off from Patna to spread road safety awareness

Anti-nuclear group urges government to stop expansion of Kudankulam plant

Chennai, July 05 (ANI): Women members of the Anti Nuclear People's Movement held a news conference in Chennai on Saturday, saying another reactor is not required, following the government's plan to start a third and fourth reactor as an expansion of the present nuclear power plant in Idinthakarai village of the area. Member of Anti Nuclear People's Movement, Malar, said that they are demanding the government to stop the unnecessary expansion of the nuclear power plant. Three- day painting exhibition brings cheer to specially-abled in Siliguri

Aditya Pancholi files Rs 100 crore defamation suit against Jiah Khans mother

Pune, July 5 (ANI): Actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, whose son Suraj is facing charges of abetting the suicide of actress Jiah Khan, has filed a Rs 100 crore defamation suit in the Bombay High Court against Rabbiya Khan, the mother of the deceased. Actress Jiah Khan was found dead under conspicuous circumstances at her Juhu apartment on June 3, 2013.
