New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday felicitated renowned environmentalist Chandi Prasad Bhatt with 2013 Gandhi Peace Prize at a glittering ceremony in Darbar Hall at Rashtrapati Bhawan. The pioneer of the Chipko movement has also been awarded with the Ramon Magsaysay Award for community leadership in 1982 followed by the Padma Bhushan in 2005. The Gandhi Peace Prize was instituted in 1995 on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This annual award is given to individuals and institutions for their contributions towards social, economic and political transformation through non-violence and other Gandhian methods.

Jammu/ Kanpur, July 15 (ANI): People in different states staged protest against Senior Journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik on Tuesday over his meeting with 26/11 attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed. Shiv Sena workers in Jammu district shouted slogans against Vaidik and burnt his effigy. The protesters also demanded his arrest and alleged that he disrespected Indian sentiments. Gurgoan, July 15 (ANI): Ved Pratap Vaidik, senior journalist also known as an aide of Yoga Guru Ramdev has been making desperate attempts to defend himself in the controversies he stirred by meeting 26/11-mastermind terrorist Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan. Vaidik dismissed the claims of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi that he is an RSS man. He added that the Congress is using him as a shield to attack the BJP. Vaidik further clarified that he met Hafiz Saeed in his personal capacity as a senior journalist. He accused the media of distorting his statements and by taking up such false allegations, the Congress has made a fool of themselves and has reduced the Parliament to a joke.
