Holi celebration kick starts in Ayodhya with gaiety and fervor

Ayodhya, March 01 (ANI): The popular festival of colours 'Holi' commenced with auspicious prayers in the temple city of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. As per Hindu traditions, people in Ayodhya celebrate the annual festival in the month of 'Phalgun' (usually February-March) to propagate social amity. At the Hanuman Garhi temple, priests offered special prayers to Lord Hanuman and took out procession on streets and visited various temples in the neighbourhood. Enroute, people in the procession spray colours and exchange greetings with others. As per Hindu almanac, 'Holi' falls on March 06 this year.

Gaza, March 01 (ANI): An Egyptian court decision to list Hamas as a terrorist organisation is "shocking and dangerous," and in no way will affect the Islamist movement, the group said from Gaza. The Egyptian decision, confirmed by judicial sources on Saturday, is part of a sustained crackdown on Islamists in the most populous Arab state. Hamas is an offshoot of the Brotherhood, which the authorities have also declared a terrorist group in Egypt and have repressed systematically since the army ousted one of its leaders, Mohamed Mursi, from the presidency in 2013.

Police bust fake currency and drug racket in Kashmir

Poonch, March 01 (ANI): Police busted a drug and fake currency racket in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the sub divisional police officer, Mendhar, Surinder Kumar Chowdhary, police were getting inputs about circulation of fake currency. Several check-points were set up to inspect passers-by. Chowdhary said police found five suspicious men sitting in an SUV as they did not respond to police queries properly. Police recovered rupees 1,26,000 of fake currency and 1,100 grams of heroin. Their interrogation led to the arrest of one more person. Police are on the look-out for their accomplices. One of the arrested men was running a cafeteria in Mendhar and selling heroin in cigarette packets outside a college.

Artist in Gujarat expresses love for PM Modi through unique potrait

Hariom Gurjar, from Vadodara city, used 38,441 bindi of 11 different shades to create Modi's portrait. The portrait has been nominated for Limca Book of World Records. The artist wishes to gift the artwork to Modi, the next time he visits Vadodara city. He also plans to put it up for auction and donate the funds to a social scheme initiated by the PM.
