MQM calls for 'mourning day' against party workers' extra judicial killings in Pak

Karachi, May 02 (ANI): Pakistani political party Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) called for a day of mourning and protest on Friday after bodies of four party workers were recovered from Memon Goth in Karachi. MQM said that all four workers were picked up on April 13 by Police and Rangers from Gulshan-e-Maymar area on the outskirts of the city. The party announced that it would stage peaceful protests against what it calls "extra judicial killings and kidnappings" of its activists. MQM leaders have alleged that personnel of the law-enforcement agencies in plain clothes pick up their workers and subject them to torture, and in some cases, they kill their workers and dump their bodies on the outskirts of the city. Rahul Gandhi has accepted poll defeat by ruling out tie-up with Third Front: Gurudas Dasgupta

New Delhi, May 2 (ANI): Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Gurudas Dasgupta on Friday claimed that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's reported preference to sit in the opposition rather than having a deal with the Third Front to form a government in order to prevent the BJP from doing so, is a clear indication that he has already accepted defeat in the 2014 general elections. Gandhi has reportedly ruled out extending the Congress Party's support to a Third Front, as he believes it is a recipe for a weak government and would instead prefer to sit in the opposition and overhaul his party. This comes in contrast to the stand taken by some of senior party leaders, including cabinet ministers of the UPA, who have indicated recently that the Congress Party would be willing to back the Third Front or take their help to cobble up a government in order to keep the BJP out. Moily rejects CPI's charges, says not favoring Reliance

New Delhi, May 2 (ANI): Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily on Friday hit back at CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta who had alleged that Moily is favouring Reliance Industries by hiking gas price as per Rangarajan formula. Moily stated that he wants to liberate the country of any import regarding fuel so that the nation becomes self-sufficient. He further clarified that he is not working for the welfare of any particular industry because many organizations will be benefitted by his policies. Moily had earlier clarified that once the Election Commission lifts its model code of conduct on May 12 its order for the deferment of a new gas-pricing regime based on the Rangarajan formula will cease to exist and a price hike would come into effect.
