OJ Simpson is granted parole and will be released from prison

Ex-football star OJ Simpson is a free man. He was granted parole by a Nevada board on 20 July. Simpson was arrested in 2007 for stealing sports memorabilia at gunpoint. He was found guilty of armed robbery and kidnapping in 2008, and was sentenced to up to 33 years in prison. His bid for a new trial was rejected in 2013, but he was granted parole due to good behaviour. Simpson was not released due to other sentences. He has now been granted parole. Jul 21, 2017

An investigation is under way after body camera footage from a Baltimore police officer appears to show officers planting evidence and then acting for the camera as if it is a new discovery.In a press conference, Baltimore police commissioner Kevin Davis said that the department was investigating the video and that one officer had his powers suspended while two others had been put on administrative duty.Davis said that the investigation is also considering whether the officers in fact replaced drugs that they had already discovered in order to document their discovery with their body worn cameras on.The charges were dropped in the case involving the body camera footage. The probe into her shooting turned, on Monday , to why the officers body cameras were not on at the time. Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges and the American Civil Liberties Union called for answers on why responding officers failed to turn on their body cameras when they arrived at the home of Ruszczyk in a quiet, upper-middle-class neighbourhood shortly before midnight Saturday.Police shot Ruszczyk, originally of Sydney, through the door of their patrol car as she approached them in an alley near her home, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported.Both officers have been placed on administrative leave, the state BCA said.
