New York, Sep 29 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu in a bid to step-up the diplomatic relations between the two sides. Prime Minister Modi was accompanied by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj during the meeting. The Israeli Prime Minister had earlier congratulated Narendra Modi after the BJP's emphatic win in the Lok Sabha polls via a phone call within 24 hours of the results being declared. Sep 29, 2014

Reactions flow over PM Modi's address at Madison Square Garden

New Delhi, Sep 29 (ANI): Political reactions flowed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the gathering of Indian Diaspora at Madison Square Garden in New York. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that there was nothing new in Modi's speech as he highlighted the same points which he does in India. Congress' Rajiv Shukla welcomed the new announcements which he made as the Prime Minister for Indian community in America. Writer from Sikkim gets a chance to be part of the In-Residence program at Rashtrapati Bhawan

New Delhi, Sep 29 (ANI): Journalist-turned-writer Yishey Doma Bhutia from Sikkim is one of four selected participants living at Rashtrapati Bhawan as a part of its in-residence programme for writers and artists. The young writer has to her credit a number of books like Legends of the Lepchas: Folktales from Sikkim and Sikkim: the Hidden Fruitful Valley. She has received the Sikkim Sahitya Samman for the year 2013. She believes that such programmes are a big encouragement for young writers like her. The In-residence programme for writers and artists was launched by the president in December last year. Besides Bhutia, the present batch comprises - Dr Vempalli Gangadhar, a Telugu writer and artists Pratap Morey from Mumbai and Rahul Saxena from Chennai.
