Sri Sri Ravi Shankar meets prime minister of Iraq

Erbil, Nov 21 (ANI): Indian spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar met Prime Minister of semi-autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, and discussed plans to psychologically rehabilitate war-ravaged people. Prasad plans to teach yoga and meditation to a group of war-weary Iraqis, whom he hopes will extend their new-found inner peace to their nation. The Islamic State (IS) has caused international alarm by capturing large expanses of Iraq and Syria, declaring an Islamic "caliphate" that extends across the border between the two. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar calls for peace in Iraq

Erbil, Nov 21 (ANI): Addressing a peace conference in Erbil city, Indian spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar called for peace in Iraq and said communication needs to be established with those who are misguided in the name of religion. Ravi Shankar on Wednesday stepped up relief work for Yazidi refugees trapped in Erbil town of northern Iraq, following an insurgency by Islamic State militants. The International Association for Human Values (IAHV), a sister concern of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's 'Art of Living,' has teamed up with local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Iraq for relief operations. Ravi Shankar said those misguided by religion need to be educated. Ravi Shankar said India, too, had been under attack by aggressors but its faith in non-violence has remained intact. 16 Maoists surrender in Chhattisgarh

Bastar, Nov 21 (ANI): Sixteen Maoists belonging to Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-M) surrendered in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. The 16 Maoists, including a woman, had a bounty of Rupees One Lakh on their heads. Inspector General (IG), Bastar, SRP Kalluri said that in the last five months there has been an increase in surrenders by the Maoists. During the ceremony, the Maoists were given monetary encouragement of Rupees 5,000. Kalluri also said that due to the increasing number of surrenders, the casualties had also come down. All the Maoists who surrendered alleged that they were subjected to exploitation and they lived under a constant threat. All of them agreed in unison that Maoism should be uprooted in Bastar. Police seize 785 kilograms of marijuana in Maharashtra

Chaklamba, Nov 21 (ANI): Police seized about 785 kilograms of marijuana in Maharashtra. The seizure took place in Chaklamba village in Beed district of Maharashtra. The police were informed about the marijuana by locals. They first sent a team to confirm the news and finally busted the operation. Investigating officer, Dilip Tejankar said that there were three farmers from the same family who were growing marijuana along with cotton crops.
