AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa has been sworn in as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for the record fifth time, after her aide O Panneerselvam resigned from the post on Friday. 

Jayalalithaa took oath at the centenary hall of the Madras University on Saturday, along with 28 other ministers.

The 67-year-old former movie star's return to power comes after her acquittal by the Karnataka High Court in the disproportionate assets case.

10.40 am: Superstar Rajinikanth is attending the swearing-in ceremony, and has already left his residence for Madras University, as per reports. 

10.30 am: Jayalalithaa is on her way to the Madras University. 

10.19 am: AIADMK supporters have started to gather at the Madras University. 

9.20 am: Jayalalithaa will hold portfolios of home, police, public, all India services, general administration and district revenue officers.

9.10 am: Reports suggest that the likes of Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj could be present for the swearing-in. Superstar Rajinikanth, who is Jayalalithaa's neighbour, may also make an appearance.
