Bangladesh marks day of Indian recognition

Dhaka, Dec 7 (ANI): Bangladesh observed Indian recognition day with poise, which the country attained after the 1971 liberation war and was recognized as an independent and sovereign nation. A seminar on "Indo-Bangladesh Relations and Regional Security" was organized in the capital city of Dhaka to mark the event. Delegates attending the seminar expressed their gratitude towards India for helping the country during the war for liberation. Emphasizing on the security between the two countries and the region in general, the Deputy High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Sandeep Chatterjee said that the two countries can take an initiative towards fighting militancy in the region. Federer and Djokovic arrive in New Delhi for Tennis League

New Delhi, Dec 7 (ANI): Swiss Tennis player Roger Federer and Serbian Tennis player Novak Djokovic arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for the third leg of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL). The tournament kicked off in Manila, Philippines on 28th November and now has come to New Delhi before concluding in Dubai on December 13th. The Delhi-based Indian Aces team has players like Federer, Ana Ivanovic, Sania Mirza, Pete Sampras, Gael Monfils, Rohan Bopanna and Fabrice Santoro. Big crowds are expected to come out on Monday when Federer of Indian Aces plays against Djokovic of UAE Royals. The winning team of IPTL will be awarded with a cash prize of one million dollars. Body of soldier martyred in Kashmir militant attack arrives home

Ranchi, Dec 7 (ANI): Body of slain soldier martyred in militant attack in Jammu and Kashmir, arrived at his hometown in Jharkhand. The body of lieutenant colonel Sankalp Shukla, martyred in the deadly attack in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, reached Ranchi. Militants sneaked into an Indian military camp in Kashmir on Friday, killing 11 soldiers and police, the worst losses for security forces in six years in Jammu and Kashmir. Assam Police arrest accused in suspected plot to kill Bangladesh PM

Guwahati, Dec 7 (ANI): Assam police arrested a key suspect behind a blast in West Bengal who is also believed to have been involved in a plot to assassinate Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and stage a coup there. Shahnor Alom, who was arrested in a village in Assam, is an operative of a banned Bangladeshi group active in West Bengal, a senior intelligence officer said. According to a police officer, he was caught hiding in his relative's house in a village in Nalbari district of Assam. Northeastern states promote tourism and crafts at IITF-2014 in New Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 07 (ANI): Tourism and industrial promotion was the focus of Assam pavilion at the 34th India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. In tandem with the theme – 'Women Entrepreneurship', the Assam Pavilion showcased various entrepreneurial activities of the women of Assam and highlighted the contributions of those who have made a special mark in their respective fields. The various products put up on display at the Fair were Assam Tea, handloom products, Assamese jewellery, bamboo and cane products and ethnic foot items, most of which are led by women entrepreneurs. A large number of crafts persons and entrepreneurs from other northeastern states like Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya also participated in the fair. Security experts say Kashmir militant attacks anticipated, India should step up tactics

New Delhi, Dec 6 (ANI): Security experts on Saturday reacting over the multiple militant attacks in Kashmir said that the attacks were anticipated and the country needs more preparedness. Security expert Uday Bhaskar said that though there had been similar attacks, the ones on Friday were of higher intensity.
