Nido Tania case: Home ministry taken issue seriously, enquiry ordered, says Ninong Ering

New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): After Arunachal Pradesh student delegation along with MoS for Minority Affairs Ninong Ering met Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde over Nido Tania case, Ering said that the ministry is taking the issue very seriously and an enquiry has been ordered into the case. He said that a CBI enquiry is also requested. Further, Ering also criticized Delhi Police of passing the buck and not registering the case immediately.

BJP criticizes AAPs protest against Arun Jaitley, calls it gimmick

New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): Reacting on an ongoing protest by AAP and a counter BJP protest in front of Arun Jaitley’s residence, BJP called it a ‘political gimmick’ and criticized the same. Party Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that AAP is trying to save itself by doing such things and if there is any truth in it, why didn’t the AAP leader recorded Jaitley’s voice and caught him red-handed. Meanwhile, BJP leader Smriti Irani called it a ‘gimmick’ by AAP and said that it’s extremely disgraceful. Irani also questioned Arvind Kejriwal in his inaction against Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Sheila Dikshit.

AAP & BJP supporters face to face outside Arun Jaitleys residence

New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party took the protest against BJP leader Arun Jaitley to his residence on Tuesday. Jaitley has been accused by the AAP of offering its members bribes to bring down the Delhi government led by Arvind Kejriwal. However, AAP has offered no evidence in support of its allegations. The protestors demanded Jaitley's apology. Meanwhile, when the news of protest reached to BJP workers, they also assembled at Jaitley’s residence. India must spend 2 per cent GDP on science: Manmohan Singh

Jammu, Feb 04 (ANI): As he pitched for more funds to promote science, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that the country's annual expenditure on science and technology should be atleast two per cent of the GDP. Singh was addressing the Indian Science Congress for the tenth year in succession in Jammu where he said India needs to leverage the ability of modern science to deliver value to society. The event was attended by several scientists, noble laureates, Union Science and Technology Minister S Jaipal Reddy, and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The meet will last for five days. Bus service resumes across India- Pakistan border

Poonch, Feb 04 (ANI): After two weeks of crisis, Poonch- Rawalkote bus service resumed with 72 people crossing the LoC. The suspension was in retaliation to the arrest of a Pakistan truck driver, who was detained by the Indian security forces in January, while he was allegedly trying to cross the border with 114 packets of brown sugar in Kaman post area of Kashmir. Custodian, Chakan Da Bagh crossing point, Bashir Ahmed, said that the issue should be resolved quickly so that passengers as well as traders of both sides can freely cross the border. After the border bus service resumption, a visitor from Pakistan, Maqbool, looked forward to meeting his close relatives.

Rahul Gandhi expresses solidarity with northeastern students in New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): Congress Vice president Rahul Gandhi, expressed solidarity with students from the northeast in New Delhi protesting against the recent death of a student from their region and promised stringent action against the culprits. The death of a 19-year-old student from Arunachal Pradesh who was beaten up mercilessly at a busy market in New Delhi, has led to outrage among the northeast community against the regular racial discrimination they suffer at the hands of the local people. Nido Taniam was allegedly beaten to death at Lajpat Nagar in south Delhi on January 29 as he got into a brawl with local shopkeepers while reacting to a verbal racial slur and taunts on his hair colour.
