Rural development most challenging field of economic activity: Arun Jaitley

New Delhi, July 24 (ANI): Addressing the National Seminar for Rural Finance, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Thursday that rural development is the most challenging field of economic activity. Jaitley also used the occasion for congratulating the National Bank for Agricultural & Rural development (NABARD) for having completed 32 years of fruitful and productive existence. Jaitley stressed upon the problems before rural development, adding that a majority of India’s population lives in rural areas and depend on farming for subsistence. The finance minister also brought up the issue of quality of life in rural areas of India saying that there are miles to go before achieving satisfaction.

Relative of victims mourn as death toll reaches 48 in Taiwan plane crash

Taiwan, July 24 (ANI): At least 48 people were killed and 10 people were injured when a twin-engine turboprop plane crashed while attempting to land in Taiwan_s Penghu Islands, said Taiwan_s Civil Aeronautics Administration. Taiwan_s Vice Minister of Civil Aeronautics Administration, Li Wan-Li confirmed on Thursday that a black box had been found for the TransAsia Airways turboprop plane that crashed during a thunderstorm. Meanwhile, relatives of the victims mourn their death and questioned the administration on lack of safety precautions. Relative of another pilot who was killed in the crash mourned on her loss.

UN Chief Ban Ki-Moon visits Baghdad for talks with Iraqi leaders

Woman gang-raped in moving car in Mumbai

Mumbai, July 24 (ANI): In a shocking incident, a 35-year old woman has alleged that she was gang-raped by two men in a moving car at Dharavi on July 22 in a moving car in Dharavi area. The accused are said to be known to the victim. The police have registered a case under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (D) for gang-rape and 34 (common intention). The victim was sent to a Hospital for medical examination.

9 school kids injured, auto driver killed after bus hits auto in Pathankot

Pathankot, July 24 (ANI): An auto driver was killed and nine school children were injured when a private bus rammed into an auto-rickshaw on the Pathankot-Amritsar highway in Punjab on Thursday. The students who were from Makhan Singh Public School in Pathankot were rushed to a nearby hospital. Following the accident, passersby laid a blockade on the highway and broke windowpanes of one private bus and set another bus on fire.
