BJP youth workers protest against SP govt in UP, police lathi charge

Lucknow, June 30 (ANI): The youth wing of the BJP protested outside the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Monday against the failing law and order situation and power crisis in the state. Police lathi charged the protesters and used water canons and tear gas to disperse the crowd. Many were injured and later taken to hospital for medical attention. The routes leading to the UP Vidhan Sabha have been cordoned off to avert the protests from further escalation. The state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav led government is on the backfire due to rising crime against women and power crisis. Meanwhile, state BJP President Laxmikant Bajpai condemned the action and said that the party won't step back.

ISIS declares Islamic 'Caliphate', calls for Muslims to pledge allegiance

Iraq, June 30 (ANI): An offshoot of al Qaeda which has captured territory in Iraq and Syria has declared itself an Islamic "caliphate" and called on factions worldwide to pledge their allegiance. The move poses a direct challenge to the central leadership of al Qaeda, which has already disowned it, and to conservative Gulf Arab rulers. The group, previously known as the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and also as ISIS, has renamed itself "Islamic State" and proclaimed its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as "Caliph" - the head of the state. Al-Adnani said the Islamic "caliphate" stretched from Aleppo in Syria to Diyala in Iraq.
