New Delhi, July 30 (ANI): Even as reports that bugging devices were found in the homes of three union ministers - Nitin Gadkari, Sushma Swaraj and Rajnath Singh - led to political fireworks in Parliament, Gadkari rubbished such reports. He said that there is no truth in the reports on bugging. Earlier both the houses of Parliament were adjourned due to ruckus over the matter. The Congress, Samajwadi Party and Janata Dal United also demanded the suspension of question hour in the Lok Sabha to discuss the bugging case.

Amid opposition demands for a probe, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, said in Rajya Sabha, that there is no truth in the reports on bugging. He further added that Nitin Gadkari himself has denied it and calls the news baseless. The statement was followed by even louder protests from the opposition benches. The Congress, Samajwadi Party and Janata Dal United also demanded the suspension of question hour in the Lok Sabha to discuss the bugging case.

India says keen to engage in strategic dialogue with U.S during Kerry's visit

New Delhi, July 30 (ANI): India's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that it is keen to engage with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to enhance strategic partnership to work together not only on bilateral but also on regional and international issues. Kerry is scheduled to visit India on Wednesday as Washington tries to revitalize ties it sees as a counterbalance to China's rising power. On Wednesday, MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said this would be the first high-level engagement between India and U.S after the new Modi government assumed office. Meanwhile, Akbaruddin also said Modi's visit to Washington would enhance India-U.S strategic ties. Hailing the multi-faceted relationship between India and U.S, Akbaruddin said the leaders would also discuss issues of economic nature with positive goals and outcomes.

CWG day 6: Wrestlers Sushil, Amit, Vinesh win gold, India bag 8 medals

New Delhi, July 30 (ANI): Sushil Kumar led the charge as Indian wrestlers put on a stunning show in the Commonwealth Games winning three of the five gold medals on offer on Day 6. Amit Kumar and teenager Vinesh Phogat also bagged gold medals while Rajeev Tomar settled for the silver medal in what was a successful outing on the first day of the wrestling competition at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC). The three gold medals also lifted India to fifth position in the medal's standings. The star of the day undoubtedly was two-time Olympic medallist Sushil, who just took 107 minutes to clinch the gold medal in the men's 74kg freestyle category beating Pakistan's Qamar Abbas in a one-sided affair.

Politicos react as govt puts field trials of GM crops on hold

New Delhi, July 30 (ANI): Politicos on Wednesday stated that the Modi government should think in the interest of the farmers and not the foreign firms that would be benefitting from the adaption of the GM crops. Earlier on Tuesday, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar had said that the field trial of 15 genetically modified (GM) crops approved recently by the Genetic Engineering Approval Committee (GEAC) is just a recommendation and no decision has been taken yet on the contentious issue. Apparently, the Modi government is coming under pressure from the RSS, as two outfits linked to the Sangh have now demanded that the Centre put a ban on field trials of the GM crops. Sources said that the outfits have been assured that the government will tread with caution on this issue.
