Flood hit villagers continue to suffer, blame government

Odisha, Aug 10 (ANI): Villagers in flood-hit Odisha on Sunday (August 10) blamed the government for their sufferings due to inaction, while the situation continues to remain grim in most of the places. Although waters have receded in some parts of the state but in Keonjhar district flood waters still remain above danger levels. Amid all these there are growing complaints of government apathy. In Keonjhar district people bear the brunt as they remain outside their homes searching for places of high ground for their safety. In Ghasipur village a visibly angry villager, Narahari Ojha, complained that all the politicians who come seeking votes at the time of elections have turned a deaf ear towards them.

Man returning from guinea to India kept under observation for Ebola

Chennai, Aug 10 (ANI): A native of Tamil Nadu coming back from Guinea to Chennai has been kept under observation for Ebola virus, said a doctor on Sunday. The 26-year-old man from Theni district was taken to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital immediately after he landed from the West African country. His blood sample has been sent to Pune for test and the man has been kept in isolation ward till then. As per media reports, the corridor leading to the isolation ward, was cordoned off and the authorities at the hospital were instructed to wear masks.

CRPF disposes off IED bomb in Assam

Vintage cars rally in India's IT hub, spreading awareness on women's safety

Bangalore, Aug 10 (ANI): A rally of vintage cars was taken out in Bangalore by the Karnataka Vintage and Classic Car Club on Sunday to create awareness on, 'respect and safety for women. The rally covered around 5 kilometers in the city. Five persons killed as car falls in Narmada canal

Vadodara, Aug 10 (ANI): At least five persons were killed on Sunday when their car fell into Narmada canal at a village in Chhota Udaipur district of Gujarat, police said. All five youths between 20 to 30 years of age, in the car were travelling back after getting rakhi tied by their sisters on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. The victims were on their way to Lajpura village in Chhota Udepur when the accident occurred.

'Singham Returns' starcast launch new range of watches in Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 10 (ANI): The starcast of the film, 'Singham Returns', actors Ajay Devgan and Kareena Kapoor along with director Rohit Shetty, attended launch of a new range of watches to promote their film in showbiz capital Mumbai. 'Singham Returns' is a cop drama and is a sequel to the 2011 similar- themed movie, 'Singham'. Narrating about his character, Devgan said that it is obviously very similar to his character in the prequel since it is essentially the same character. Film also features a song by rapper YoYo Honey Singh. The song 'Aata Majhi Satakli' reportedly crossed one million views on the YouTube in just one day. On being asked how Shetty came to be associated with Honey Singh, Shetty referred the question to Kareena Kapoor and the rapper fan said that this was the best time for both to come together.

Child from war-torn Iraq gets new life by the help of Indian doctors

Gurgaon, Aug 10 (ANI): A child from war-torn Iraq got a new life with the efforts of Indian doctors. The13-year-old Iraqi boy was operated at a speciality hospital in Gurgaon. In June, Iraqi child Hayder Hamid Haloob was going with his family to their fields to cut the wheat crop on the outskirts of the holy city of Karbala — bordering the ISIS-controlled Jurf-Al-Sakhar area — when a landmine went off. The blast killed his uncle who was driving, and left his mother and aunt with shrapnel injuries in their arms and shoulders. Neuro Surgeon, Doctor Sandeep Vaish said that the child’s condition was very critical when he was brought from Iraq. Vaish informed that there was a metal nut at back side of the child’s head which might have pierced inside during the bomb blast.

Women tie rakhis to soldiers guarding Indo-Pak border on Raksha Bandhan

Amritsar, Aug 10 (ANI): Women on Sunday tied rakhis on wrists of soldiers guarding India’s border in Punjab to mark the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The soldiers were elated and deeply touched. Border Security Force (BSF) Commandant Officer Wagah Border, Satish Kumar, expressed his gratitude and said the gesture by students and women was rewarding for each one of them. The girls were highly pleased and felt proud in tying rakhi on the wrists of soldiers. New Delhi, Aug 10 (ANI): Women in Assam make national flags of indigenous cloth, Khadi, which are ready to hit the markets increasing hopes of making profit after the government bans use of plastic materials. As Independence Day draws closer, the noise of sewing machines at the Assam Khadi Village and Industries Board in Guwahati gets louder with several women workers of the board making national flags made of Khadi. The workers are aware that Khadi flags are in demand in government offices as the sale of plastic flags has been banned.
