New Delhi, Jan 02 (ANI): Dogs, cats and other animals may help autistic children to be more assertive, says a new research. Researcher has found that children with autism have stronger social skills when any kind of pet lived in the home.The revealed that children with any kind of pet in the home reported being more likely to engage in behaviors such as introducing themselves, asking for information or responding to other people's questions. Such social skills typically are difficult for kids with autism, but the study showed children's assertiveness was greater if they lived with a pet. Indian army provides medical care to boy injured in firing in J and K

Srinagar, Jan 2 (ANI): A boy who was seriously injured when security forces opened firing at a vehicle he was travelling in Jammu and Kashmir, thanked Indian army for providing him proper medical care. 19-year-old Zahid was injured in his right leg in an army firing in Chattergam in Budgam district in November when the vehicle he was travelling in with four other people did not stop at checking points. Zahid and one of his friends were injured and taken to army base hospital for medical treatment. As the boy got ready to leave for home after a period of almost two months, he said he didnt miss home as he was well looked after and visited by family members regularly. General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Kashmir-based 15 corps of the Indian army, Lieutenant General Subrata Saha was also present at the hospital and expressed happiness to see the boy recover well. Bezbaruah Committee report: Home Ministry acts on slew of measures

New Delhi, Jan 02 (ANI): The Home Ministry on Friday announced that it was working to implement the recommendations of the Bezbaruah Committee, which was constituted to look into the concerns of people from the north-east. As per the committee's recommendations, Delhi police will appoint 20 police personnel from each north-east state and police exchange programs will also be initiated. He said the people from the north east will also get compensation and financial assistance under the Delhi Victim Compensation Scheme, 2011. Suspense continues over government formation in J-K, BJP asserts importance

New Delhi, Jan 2 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party once again said on Friday that no stable government would be possible in Jammu and Kashmir without the party's participation, even as the suspense over government formation in the state continues. Two days ago, People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti, the leader of the largest party, had also met the Governor. After the meeting, Mehbooba Mufti appeared to lean towards the BJP as she invoked former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's vision and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi "has a big responsibility" towards the state. In the five-phased recent state assembly polls, the PDP won 28 seats in the 87-member Jammu and Kashmir assembly; the BJP won 25, while the National Conference and the Congress won 15 and 12 seats respectively. The majority mark was 44, which none of the four political parties achieved. So far, no party or combination of parties, has staked claim to form government. Jan 2, 2015
