PM Modi briefs about his meet with Obama, invites him to visit India Part - 1

Washington DC, Sep 30 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi after meeting US President Barack Obama briefed about the summit level talks held between them. Modi said that India is committed to the resolution of civil nuclear cooperation between the two countries. He also raised the issues of commitment towards Afghanistan and Ebola breakout in Africa. Modi also extended an invitation to Barack Obama to visit India along with his family.

PM Modi visits Martin Luther King memorial along with US President Obama

Washington DC, Sep 30 (ANI): In a rare gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Barack Obama jointly visited the memorial of Martin Luther King in Washington DC. Both the leaders together paid homage to the statue of the leader of African-American Civil Rights Movement. Modi and Obama drove straight to the Memorial after their summit level talks at the White House. As per initial plan, Modi was to go alone to pay the homage but in last minute change American president also decided to join him. Both the leaders took a round of the memorial and Obama was seen explaining significance of the site to Modi.

India-US joint military exercise concludes

Ranikhet, Sep 30 (ANI): The 14-day joint military exercise between India and the US, which is aimed at strengthening and broadening inter-operability and cooperation between the two armies, concluded in Uttarakhand on Tuesday (September 30). The 'Yudh Abhyas' focused on key elements of command post exercise, field training exercise and expert academic exchanges in hill town of Ranikhet. The event, which kicked off on September 17, brought together troops of a mountain brigade of the Indian Army and a company and brigade headquarters of the US Army. The troops of both the sides executed a series of combined strategic drills for neutralisation of likely threats that may be encountered in the UN peace keeping operations.

Petrol price cut by 65p from midnight

New Delhi, Sept 30 (ANI): Petrol price has been slashed by 65 paise a litre effective from midnight tonight. Petrol will now be sold at Rs. 67.86 per litre from midnight in New Delhi. "Petrol prices have continued to show a downward trend. The current levels of international oil prices and INR-USD exchange rate warrant a decrease in selling price of petrol in the domestic market," said Indian Oil in a statement. Diesel prices are also likely to be cut by about Rs.1 per litre, the first reduction in rates in over five years. However, the cut will wait for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's return from the US. Meanwhile, according to latest reports, the cost of cylinders without subsidy has also been slashed by Rs.21.

Moradabad, Sep 30 (ANI): The handicrafts industry in Moradabad is hoping to reap the benefits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's US visit, expecting the trip's success to fuel a demand for 'Make in India' products in the country's biggest export market. Modi's 'Make in India' initiative is aimed at turning the country into a manufacturing hub for the world so that the development of 1.25 billion people would create a massive market for all their goods to be absorbed and the surplus to be exported to the outside world. With the change in visa laws, the industry is expected to attract more US buyers and investors and help the domestic market to grow, who earlier were unwilling to visit India.

Haryana CM slams BJP for not declaring CM candidate in upcoming polls

New Delhi, Sep 30 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday slammed BJP for not declaring the name of its CM candidate in the upcoming assembly elections in the state. He said that BJP doesn't have any candidate who is suitable for the post of Chief Minister and the party is misleading public by making false promises. Hooda added that every election is a challenge and that he is confident that Congress will win elections for the third time in Haryana.
