Mamata Banerjee visit to Bangladesh raises hopes of early resolution to water treaty

Dhaka, Feb 20 (ANI): The visit of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to Bangladesh has raised hopes of resolution of Teesta water-sharing deal and other contentious issues. Mamata Banerjee arrived in Dhaka on Thursday on a maiden official visit at the invitation of Bangladesh's Foreign Minister, Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali. India released 111 Bangladeshi fishermen on Thursday ahead of her visit to Dhaka. The Teesta water-sharing agreement has been in talks since 2009. Banerjee is scheduled to meet Bangladesh's President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina among others.

New Delhi, Feb 20 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said his government will very soon give good news on anti-corruption helplines, reduced power rates and free water supply. Kejriwal said that his government has already finalized a "blue-print" on issues relating to power and water which were focus areas for AAP during the election campaign while it will take at least a year to make Delhi a "Wi-Fi city". He was speaking after inaugurating the annual Garden Tourism Festival at Saket in South Delhi.

Oath on 22 Feb, have to prove majority by 16 March: Nitish

Patna, Feb 20 (ANI): Addressing mediapersons in Patna, senior JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar on Friday said that he has been invited to form government in the state. Nitish met Governor KN Tripathi in Patna and staked his claim to form the next government after his protege Jitan Ram Manjhi resigned hours before he was supposed to face the trust vote in Bihar Assembly today. Nitish said that the swearing-in ceremony will be on 22 February, at 5 pm. The governor has given time till 16 March to prove majority in the Bihar Assembly.

Dharmanandan Diamonds Chairman Laljibhai Patel after winning the suit said that he will keep the suit in our office as a reminder of the noble cause he took part in. Reportedly, the monogrammed bandhgala is worth Rs 10 lakh. Modi had worn the suit during his meeting with the US President Barack Obama. The money which will come from the bidding will be used in the Ganga Cleaning Project.

It happens : Vintage car rally

Bhopal, Feb 20 (ANI): Vintage car owners and collectors converged in Bhopal city of Madhya Pradesh for a rally of classic beauties. The rally was organized as a part of the ongoing Bhoj Adventure Festival which aimed to generate awareness about beautification of Bhopal. The rally started from Shahpura Lake and concluded at Kaliyasot Adventure Zone in the city. 25 vintage cars from across Bhopal took part in the rally that was organised by Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) and flagged off by BMC Commissioner Tejaswi S Naik. Naik said the rally was a moment of pride for the citizens of Bhopal. In this almost 10 kilometer-long rally, vintage beauties like Austin, Rolls Royce, Ford, Willys, Maruti 1984 and others strutted on the roads enthralling the onlookers. A participant, Azhar Mohammed Khan said such rallies needed to be held every year.

Tamil Nadu, Feb 20 (ANI): Students of an engineering college in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu made a solar-powered e-scooter, an eco-friendly step to save non-renewable sources of energy. The solar powered scooter runs on a primary and an auxiliary set of batteries and takes six to seven hours to charge fully. It can travel at a speed of 50 to 55 kilometres per hour and gives a mileage of 45 to 55 kilometres, once charged. The students said the team created this scooter as solar power was the future. India has committed to a huge expansion in renewable energy and improving the energy efficiency of its rapidly growing economy.
