Film show on Mirza Ghalib enthralls audience in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 03 (ANI): People attended a special film show on renowned Sufi poet, Mirza Ghalib, in Srinagar city of Jammu and Kashmir in large numbers. The film was screened in the auditorium of Radio Kashmir, which is controlled by the Indian government and a non-commercial radio station operating from Kashmir. Ghalib, the most prominent Urdu and Persian poet of India during the Mughal period, took to poetry recital to boost languages. His poetry comprised mostly of romance, love and sadness. In order to honour the poet and highlight his contribution to Urdu poetry, the radio station screened a film on him in collaboration with Actors Creative Theater (ACT) group. AIADMK stage protest against Sri Lankan govt over Jayalalithaa- Modi article

Chennai, Aug 03 (ANI): AIADMK on Sunday staged protest against Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu. The protest came after the officials of Sri Lankan government defence ministry published an article ‘how meaningful are Jayalalithaa's love letters to Narendra Modi'. Protesters carried black flags, shouted slogans and stepped on Rajapakse's photograph, showing anger against the neighbouring nation. Bihar govt ready with all measures water level increases in Kosi River: Vijay Chaudhary

Patna, Aug 03 (ANI): As a flood like situation arose in Bihar with the increase in water level in the River Kosi, state Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said that all safety measures are undertaken. He said that he along with the state Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi will visit the spot to take the aerial view of the situation. Chaudhary also said that the Nepal government is ready to help in whatever way they can to free the flow of water. The state government has so far evacuated 20,000 people living along the embankment of the Kosi River as a 10-metre high wall of water is expected to sweep down the river from Nepal soon, officials said. Condition of 18 children worsens in thane hospital due to medicinal reaction

Thane, Aug 03 (ANI): The condition of 18 children worsened on Saturday in the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Thane after they were injected medicines by a hospital nurse. Modi had met estranged Bahadur yars ago, and then decided to take care of the boy's education and living. He also started speaking Gujarati. The prime minister located the boy's family a few years ago and on his two-day official visit to Nepal, he decided to bring Bahadur along and to meet his family. Congress protests in Bangalore against Natwar Singh's book

Bangalore, Aug 03 (ANI): Congress party workers in Karnataka took to streets in Bangalore on Sunday to protest against the revelations of the book by Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi's confidant, Natwar Singh. In the autobiography "One Life is Not Enough", Singh paints an unflattering picture of the 67-year old Congress party head, labelling her as at-times "Machiavellian" leader who has been "coarsened" by politics. Uttarakhand employs more women in tea garden

Nainital, Aug 03 (ANI): In a bid to empower women and make them independent, a state-run tea garden of Uttarakhand decided to raise women workforce in its tea gardens. The tea garden of Uttarakhand government in Ghorakhal region of Nainital district, employes mostly women, who do most of the work in the gardens, from plucking tea leaves, cutting branches to processing them in factory. A female worker, Jeewanti Devi, said salaries are given on time and they do not face any problems. There are 180 women employed in the government run plantations in the district.
