Panaji, Nov 06 (ANI): Amidst speculations of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar getting post in Union Cabinet, he said that he was consulted by the party leadership over the matter. He said that the party President Amit Shah has indicated that if any proposal for joining Union cabinet comes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes his way, he should accept it. Satish Upadhyay says forging 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' condemnable, had no knowledge about same

New Delhi, Nov 06 (ANI): Clarifying on the controversy over his cleanliness drive, Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay on Thursday said that he totally condemns forging of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' and that it should be taken seriously and carried on honestly. He also said that he or any BJP leaders had no knowledge of the same and he went there as a participant. Upadhyay said that it was a program of the Islamic Centre and he was there for a few minutes only. He further condemned the incident saying it was a human error and should not be done in future. Paramilitary Assam Rifles gun down four militants in Assam

Dima Hasao, Nov 06 (ANI): Four militants were killed in two separate encounters with paramilitary Assam Rifles and the police in Dima Hasao district of Assam on Thursday. Huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the militants. According to reports, the Assam Rifles had launched an operation near Robi Basti village, and indulged in a gun battle in which three militants were killed. Two AK series rifles, 73 rounds of ammunition and other war-like stores were recovered from the militants. The militants belonged to National Socialist Council of Nagalim - Isak- Muivah (NSCN-IM) rebel group. Meanwhile, another operation was conducted near Kopilo village, a day before, on the junction of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur, an area frequented by NSCN (IM) insurgents for their transit into the state, said sources. In the encounter an ultra was killed and one AK-47 rifle, one Lathod rifle, one hand grenade and over 100 rounds of ammunition were recovered from him. Nov 6, 2014

Visakhapatnam police arrest professor for allegedly supplying explosives to Maoists

Visakhapatnam, Nov 06 (ANI): Police in Visakhapatnam city of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, arrested a professor of a state-run university for allegedly supplying explosives to Maoists. According to media reports, Professor J Apparao, who teaches in Telugu Department at the Andhra University, had long been a tribal activist. He allegedly had links with the Communist Party of India (Maoists) and other rebels. Police officials arrested Apparao from his residence in wee hours on Thursday. Students and staff members of the university staged protests outside the office of Superintendent of Police, Visakhapatnam, K Praveen, demanding his release. Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor of Andhra University, Professor GSN Raju said that some people on the campus had warned him of his alleged involvement in suspicious activities.
