Kolkata, Jan 8 (ANI): Former Supreme Court judge AK Ganguly who stepped down as the chief of West Bengal Human Rights Commission on January 6 following allegations of sexual harassment has broken his silence on the issue. Ganguly on Wednesday held a press conference during which he claimed that he had resigned because it was difficult for his family to tolerate the campaign against him. However, wishing success for the young woman lawyer at the centre of the controversy, Ganguly said that he would never file a defamation case against his student and would rather go to jail.

Violence will not solve problems: Kejriwal on vandalism at AAP office

New Delhi, Jan 08 (ANI): Condemning the attack on his party's office in Ghaziabad's Kaushambhi by the Hindu Rakshak Sena, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that violence will not solve problems and invited the attackers to meet him and talk over the issue. A group of 30 to 40 people attacked the Aam Aadmi Party's office in Kaushambi. The protestors were protesting against party leader Prashant Bhushan's comments on Kashmir. Talking to mediapersons in New Delhi, Kejriwal categorically stated that Army deployment in Kashmir is decided by the Central government. While it is important to respect people's view, referendum is not an option. He also said that Prashant Bhushan has already clarified that referendum on Kashmir is not endorsed by the AAP. Meanwhile, he reiterated that he will not take security.

PM expects 5 % economic growth in 2013/14

New Delhi, Jan 08 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday said that India's economic growth in the current fiscal year is likely to remain flat at 5 percent. Singh's forecast is more optimistic than those of several private economists, who are predicting growth in the year till March 2014 to slip below 5 percent. Addressing the second day of the annual Diaspora Day in New Delhi, Singh said that international and domestic factors have contributed to the growth. Singh also said that inclusive development was the guiding principle of the central government.
