Beijing, Nov 08 (ANI): India and China are holding a 10-day joint military drill on counterterrorism in Beijing, with around 300 soldiers from both countries taking part in exercises aimed at boosting trust between the militaries. Dharamshala, Nov 8 (ANI): As a mark of tribute, India's northern Dharamshala town organises a new concept of fusion arts performance in a one -hour cultural event during which an artist paints on stage along with the recitation of poems and singing of songs composed by the jailed Tibetan artists. Hundreds of Tibetans enjoyed a great performance by various poets, singers and painters who left them mesmerized by their performance. Contemporary painter Karma Sichoe painted on a white canvas as singers and poets entertained the audience with music and songs composed by exiled Tibetans at the special Lhakar evening. Lhakar is often translated as 'White Wednesday' as Tibetans in Tibet and around the world highlight Wednesday as the Soul-Day of their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, by celebrating various aspects of Tibetan culture. Ujjain, Nov 8 (ANI): Hundreds converge in the ancient city of Ujjain in India's central Madhya Pradesh to witness the buffalo fight, the main attraction organised on the occasion of 'Bhai Dooj' in which sisters pray for the long life and prosperity of their brothers and brothers vow to always protect their sisters.Villagers from far off places brought their bulls and buffaloes for the traditional festival. In the months preceding the festival, bulls and buffaloes are fed with rich fodder and reeds of long grass typical of the state's marshy land. The fight was organised to pay tributes to the local deities and to preserve the century- old tradition. The spectators were seen cheering and clapping in anticipation of an entertaining duel when the specially reared animals were brought to the arena.For centuries, the practice of bullfighting has been followed, wherein the two animals are made to lock horns, fighting for the honour of an area until one of them is pushed off the field. Rampur, Nov 8 (ANI): Horse breeders and stud farm owners throng a three- day annual horse fair in northern Rampur town to buy the 'Chamurthi' breed of horse, also known as 'snow horse', because of its ability to trot on snow even at night. The authorities have organised the fair to promote and showcase some rare breeds of horses. Buyers from different parts of Himachal Pradesh and neighbouring Uttarakhand and Punjab turned up at the fair to buy and sell horses. Every year, hundreds of horse breeders and owners from all over India attend the Rampur horse fair where the main attraction is the Chamurthi horse. Legend has it that centuries ago, the very first of them was found in the remote village of Chamurthi in Tibet and are thus named after the place of their origin. These are small in size but with a long mane these horses are the lifeline of the people in the tough and difficult terrain of the Himalayas. In local dialect, this particular horse is called Kayang which means faster than the fire and is considered an endangered breed. Nov 8, 2013
