AAP launches 'Mein Bhi Aam Aadmi' campaign Part - 2

New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): Keeping an eye on 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday began its nationwide membership drive 'Mai Bhi Aam Aadmi' without any joining fees. Speaking to reporters during the launch, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that any Indian citizen can become a member of the AAP but only those who are given important responsibilities and positions in the party will undergo an intense scrutiny. The membership campaign will continue till January 26. AAP leader Gopal Rai will lead the membership campaign.

Bitter cold continues as fresh snowfall blankets Kashmir

Poonch, Jan 10 (ANI): Residents continued to reel under intense cold weather condition as Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir received fresh snowfall on Thursday. As the snow blanketed the region, plowing machines were deployed to clear the snow from the roads. This is the third time, within a week, that snowfall has paralysed normal life in the region, leading to prolonged power cuts and blocking arterial highway. Frequent blocking of the National-Highway, which is the arterial road link that connects Kashmir with rest of the country, due to non-stop snowfall makes life tough as essential supplies do not reach the valley on time.

Northern India reels under bone chilling cold

New Delhi/ Shimla, Jan 10 (ANI): Severe cold wave conditions continued to sweep northern India on Friday paralysing normal life. In New Delhi, people were seen sitting around bonfires and drinking tea to brave the cold weather. The northern Himachal Pradesh is also in the grip of cold wave as snowfall in the upper regions forced people to stay indoors. In higher altitudes, the temperature has even dropped to the sub-zero level, with some states witnessing lowest minimum temperatures. People are finding it difficult to cope up with inclement weather conditions.

Khobragade departed for India, asked to leave US: MEA

New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): The foreign ministry on Friday said that Devyani Khobragade, at the centre of the fraud visa row has been transferred to New Delhi from New York. Khobragade has reiterated her innocence on charges filed against her of visa fraud and underpaying her nanny, according to the ministry. The Indian diplomat is flying back to India and will take up her duties at the Ministry of External Affairs, but for now, her children will remain in US. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin confirmed that Khobragade has departed for home.
