BJP hits out at Shinde s remark on arrest of youth from minorities

New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reacted strongly to Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's comment that he has asked all state Chief Ministers to be careful while arresting youth from the minority communities. Talking to mediapersons, BJP leader Prakash Javadekar accused Shinde of pursuing a divisive agenda. He also said that criminals should not be identified on the basis of religion.

Delhi HC rejects stay on LG order on nursery admissions norms

New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): In a setback to private schools in Delhi, the High Court on Friday rejected a plea seeking stay on fresh nursery admission guidelines issued by the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung. The petition was filed by Delhi School Association after Jung made some changes in nursery admission process and decided to put an end to the management quota following protests by parents. The petitioners argued that the order compromised the autonomy of private unaided schools in Delhi. The petitioners had questioned the power by which Jung issued guidelines for nursery admissions in Delhi.

Adding hues to sky, kites fly high at International Kite Festival in Gujarat

Rajkot, Jan 10 (ANI): Dozens of tourists join hundreds of Kite-flying enthusiasts from all cities of Gujarat and other parts of India and abroad during the ongoing international kite flying festival in Rajkot city of Gujarat. Over 130 kite masters from 27 countries and various states of India are participating in the festival. The festival is being organized in capital city, New Delhi, showbiz capital, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Saputara, Mandvi and Dhordo Rann of Kutch districts in Gujarat. Foreign nationals from different countries brought their kites and participated in the mega event.

New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): Keeping an eye on 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday began its nationwide membership drive 'Mai Bhi Aam Aadmi' without any joining fees. Bitter cold continues as fresh snowfall blankets Kashmir

Poonch, Jan 10 (ANI): Residents continued to reel under intense cold weather condition as Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir received fresh snowfall on Thursday. As the snow blanketed the region, plowing machines were deployed to clear the snow from the roads. This is the third time, within a week, that snowfall has paralysed normal life in the region, leading to prolonged power cuts and blocking arterial highway. Frequent blocking of the National-Highway, which is the arterial road link that connects Kashmir with rest of the country, due to non-stop snowfall makes life tough as essential supplies do not reach the valley on time.
