Congress trying to curb press freedom unreasonably: Naqvi

New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): After a war of words between Narendra Modi and Manish Tewari over Congress undermining press freedom, BJP Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi accused Congress of the same and said that Congress needs medical check up. Naqvi also accused congress of using fascist and undemocratic ways. Further, he said that Congress who have a problem with opinion polls without any reason will in a few days start speaking against polls too.

Congress accuses Kejriwal for meeting Muslim cleric

New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): After Arvind Kejriwal sought support for his Aam Aadmi Party from controversial Muslim cleric Maulana Tauqeer Raza, Congress Spokesperson Meem Afzal accused him of playing communal card. He asked what urged him to go to a Muslim cleric being from the ideologies of RSS and BJP. Maulana Tauqeer Raza is the same cleric who issued a fatwa against Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen some years ago.

Raipur, Nov 09 (ANI): President of Congress unit in Chhattisgarh, Charan Das Mahant on Saturday slammed BJP and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and said that there is no Modi factor in the state and that Congress will definitely win the polls. Further, he talked about various problems facing the state and said that the youth be given employment and there should be talks with Maoists to tackle the problem. Mahant also said Modi is too eager to be in power whereas Congress works on the belief of sacrifice.

PM's visit to Sri Lanka for CHOGM unlikely, CPI says will affect relations

New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): As Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is most unlikely to visit Sri Lanka for Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting (CHOGM), CPI leader Atul Anjan said that the cancelation of the visit will adversely affect relations between the two countries. He also said that such actions are not possible for all times as India can't break relations with every country wherein Indians are ill-treated.

India, Kuwait agree to strengthen relations and expand ties

New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that India and Kuwait have agreed to work purposefully to expand relations in key areas, including energy and investments. Singh had delegation levels talks with the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Singh said that the relationship between India and Kuwait was enriched by the great warmth and goodwill shared by the two nations. During the meet, Singh addressed Kuwait as an extremely valuable partner in the economic sphere and that close relations between India and Kuwait were important for both the countries. Jabar reiterated the view of his Indian counterpart and stated that Kuwait and India have signed several agreements to strengthen the relations between both countries

Dhaka, Nov 09 (ANI): Political uncertainty and unrest plunged Bangladesh into a cycle of violence as the two main political parties exploit the tension between secularists and Islamists ahead of elections. Recently, Bangladesh's main opposition party refused a request from the prime minister to form an all-party government to oversee upcoming elections, setting the stage for a showdown this week that could delay or even derail the polls altogether. Senior advocate, Bangladesh Supreme Court, Yusuf Hossain Humayun, while talking to a reporter blamed the founder of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Ziaur Rahman for allowing Jamaat-e-Islami to function as a political party. Commenting over the demand for a caretaker government, Humayun said that a constructional amendment for such a demand was not possible.

At least 100 dead in typhoon Haiyan

Philippines, Nov 09 (ANI): Typhoon Haiyan, possibly the strongest storm ever to hit land, was barrelling out of the Philippines on Saturday after it flattened houses, triggered landslides and floods and knocked out power and communications across a number of islands. In the central Philippines, nearly all houses in Tacloban in Leyte province with a population of about 220,000, were toppled and casualties were feared to be massive, a disaster official said. At least 100 people may have died from the impact of super typhoon Haiyan, a senior government official said on Saturday.
