BJP slams study tour of UP MLAs

New Delhi, Jan 8 (ANI): BJP leader, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Wednesday slammed Samajwadi Party ministers for going on an extravagant study tour abroad at the time when Muzaffarnagar riot victims are dying due to cold. Naqvi also slammed Congress party for visiting Muzzaffarnagar riot victims but doing nothing. He further hit out at Samajwadi party for organizing Saifai Mahotsav.

Mumbai-Dehradun Express fire: Railway Minister "deeply pained", announces Rs.5 lakh ex-gratia to vic

New Delhi, Jan 8 (ANI): Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge has informed that he has ordered a probe in the Mumbai-Dehradun Express fire case and promised to take action after the report. Kharge also announced Rs.5 lakh ex gratia to the kin of passengers killed in the accident. Nine people were charred to death when a fire broke out in three coaches of the train near Dahanu road in neighbouring Thane district in the wee hours on Wednesday.

Train fire kills nine in Mumbai-Dehradun Express train

Thane/ New Delhi, Jan 8 (ANI): Chairman of India's railway board Arunendra Kumar confirmed that nine people have died and one injured in a fire that broke out on the Bandra-Dehradun Express in Thane district of Maharashtra. Fire broke out in three coaches of the train early on Wednesday killing at least 9 people and injuring others. Reportedly, the fire broke out in three sleeper coaches of the train. Further Arunendra Kumar said inspection is going on as the cause of fire is ascertained.

Congress criticizes study tour of UP MLAs

New Delhi, Jan 8 (ANI): Congress leader Jagdambika Pal on Wednesday slammed the Samajwadi Party for insensitivity after reports emerged that MLAs from the state are going on extravagant study tours abroad at the time when Muzaffarnagar riot victims are dying due to cold. Over 20 MLAs will leave on Wednesday on a tour which covers five countries in 20 days. The MLAs will travel to Turkey, Greece, UK, UAE and Netherlands.

Not in Pakistan to make a deal about Musharraf: Saudi FM

Central government draws flak for lack of security in riot-hit Muzaffarnagar

New Delhi/ Muzaffarnagar, Jan 8 (ANI): BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu has blamed the central government and the UP government for playing vote bank politics by keeping national security at stake. The ruling Congress party confirmed on Tuesday that Pakistan based militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) had come in contact with several riot victims affected by the communal violence in state. Naidu called it a high security related issue and said instead of focusing on the problem, the governments are playing political games. Meanwhile, CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury said being a question of national security, the matter should have been dealt without any political inclination.
