New Delhi, March 27 (ANI): I&B Minister Manish Tewari on Thursday condemned BJP leader Arun Jaitley for commenting over his inability to contest elections due to health reasons. He further said that he would be unable to participate in the election campaigning procedure properly due to poor health conditions.

SC demands Gavaskar to be BCCI interim president & Srinivasan removed

New Delhi, March 27 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Thursday proposed the name of Sunil Gavaskar as interim BCCI President replacing N Srinivasan till it gives the final verdict in the IPL Spot-fixing case. The SC also said that Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will not be part of the upcoming IPL 7 and that any person involved with India Cements should alos be refrained from functioning in the BCCI. The lawyer said that the BCCI will reply to SC on theses proposals on Friday at 10:30 am.

Two suspected terrorists planning to target Modi arrested in UP

Lucknow, March 27 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) has confirmed the arrest of two suspected terrorists believed to be from Pakistan, and also recovered a huge cache of weapons from them in Gorakhpur. The suspected terrorists were part of a terror module which was planning to target senior political leaders, including BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, during campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls. Reacting over this BJP leader Laxmikant Bajpai said that this is a serious matter and Modi should be provided adequate security.

MP leader describes Sushma as future deputy PM, Opposition reacts

New Delhi, Mar 27 (ANI): In the latest episode of the ongoing political saga, a leader in Madhya Pradesh, Surendra Patwa named senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj as the future Deputy PM. Earlier Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal had named Arun Jaitley as the future Deputy PM. Thousands of Bangladeshis sing National anthem on Independence day, attempt world record

Dhaka, March 27 (ANI): More than 250,000 Bangladeshis sang the national anthem in chorus to set a new world record on March 26 coinciding with the 43rd Independence Day celebrations. The event which was aimed at getting Bangladesh in the Guinness Book of World Records also saw the participation of Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina who sang with the 1971 Liberation War veterans and her cabinet colleagues. Mostly in red and green, people from all walks of life gathered at National Parade Ground to be a part of the event 'Lakho Konthe Sonar Bangla'.

Police arrest spy, seize huge cache of drugs in Amritsar

Amritsar, March 27 (ANI): At the tip off intelligence police in Punjab arrested a spy while in a separate incident paramilitary seize a huge cache of drugs coming from neighbouring Pakistan. In an apparent case of espionage, State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) of Police in Amritsar arrested a resident, who was an army clerk, Lovedeep Singh, for providing sensitive information to the Pakistan security agencies. Official of the State Special Operations Cell, Harvinder Singh, said that Lovedeep Singh was providing restricted army documents, sketches and other vital information to the Pakistani agencies. In a separate incident, BSF officials recovered seven kilograms of suspected heroine from intruders trying to get into Indian Territory from Pakistan side.

BSF beefs up security along Bangladesh border in WB ahead of LS polls

Phulbari, March 27 (ANI): Border Security Force (BSF) has beefed up security along Indo-Bangladesh border in North Bengal Frontier region in West Bengal in the wake of upcoming Lok Sabha polls. BSF is keeping a strong vigil over the border lines to preclude any sort of untoward incident. Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF), In-Charge of North Bengal Frontier, SK Sood said that they have heightened the security along Indo-Bangladesh border and are in regular touch with police and security agencies for any information. A total number of 14 battalions of BSF will be keeping a vigil at North Bengal Frontier during the time of elections, added Sood.
