Modis biography says sad about 2002 riots but not guilty, politicos react

New Delhi, March 26 (ANI): Politicos condemned Narendra Modi’s biography which says that he was "sad" about the 2002 Gujarat riots but has no guilt, and that no court has "come even close to establishing" it. CPI leader D Raja said that Gujarat government should take the moral responsibility and that Modi should understand the gravity of the incident that took place in 2002 and as the serving chief minister should take responsibility. JD (U) leader KC Tyagi said that the state government is totally responsible for the same. Further, CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury said that this is like accepting that the state government is responsible for the riots and that court not establishing a case till date never means that Modi has been given a clan chit.

Muzaffarnagar Riots: Politicos slam UP govt after SC blames it for negligence

New Delhi, Mar 26 (ANI): Politicos from rebel parties on Wednesday attacked the Samajwadi Party, whom the Supreme Court blamed for negligence in the Muzaffarnagar Riots case. The Supreme Court on Wednesday said the Uttar Pradesh government had failed to protect the fundamental rights of people in Muzaffarnagar, where nearly 60 people were killed in riots last year. The apex court also pulled up the Central and State intelligence agencies for not alerting the Uttar Pradesh government on the impending riots.

Maoist attack in Jharkhand injures security personnel

Garhwa /Jhargram, Mar 26 (ANI): An attack by Maoists in Jharkhand injured one security personnel of Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) during an encounter in Garhwa district of the state. In the firing took place in village Dhurki. Meanwhile, in Jhargram town of West Bengal, a large cache of arms were seized by the CRPF and a Maoist was arrested. The Maoists say they are fighting for the rights of millions of landless tribal people. Apart from prisoner releases, the Maoists have also demanded an end to tourism in parts of the state where many tribes exist. Equipped with automatic weapons, shoulder rocket launchers, mines and explosives, Maoists want to cripple economic activity.

Muzaffarnagar riots: SC says UP government failed to protect rights of people

The court also said that there is no need for a CBI or a court-monitored probe into the Muzaffarnagar riots "at this juncture". Maoists spread threat in Bihar, ask people to boycott polls

Jamui, Mar 26 (ANI): As India prepares for the upcoming parliamentary polls that are just two weeks away, Maoists in Bihar are spreading threat by pasting posters in Jamui district, asking villagers to boycott Lok Sabha elections or else face consequences. Rebels belonging to Communist Party of India (Maoists) put up posters in many villages of the Jamui district on Tuesday. Villagers in the district said they feel threatened after they read the posters put up by Maoists and are not sure of voting as they are afraid of the consequences. However, the Superintendent of Police of Jamui, Jitendra Rana said the police are alert and assured that the general elections will take place peacefully.

Cricket associations respect SC's decision on BCCI President

Mumbai / Visakhapatnam, Mar 26 (ANI): Cricket associations of different states have said that they respect the Supreme Court's direction on BCCI chief N. Srinivasan and hope that he will take an appropriate step. The top court asked him to step down to ensure a fair probe in a betting case during last year's Indian Premier League (IPL), in which his son-in-law has been indicted. Commenting on the issue, the president of Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association, D. V. Subba Rao, said Srinivasan will take court's decision in right spirit and act accordingly. Meanwhile, former chairman of IPL, Rajiv Shukla, refused to comment on the issue.
