New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): US President Barack Obama while addressing the gathering at Siri Fort auditorium said that India and US are the countries where the grandson of a cook can become a President and a tea-seller’s son can become a Prime Minister. He added that racial discrimination still exists in many parts of the world. Talking about harmony between religions, Obama said that India will succeed so long as it is not splintered on religious lines. President Obama, who was on a three-day visit of India, concludes his trip later in the day. New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Indian experts on Chinese Affairs on Tuesday said that China's red flag to India's entry into the Nuclear Suppliers Group is 'the fear from their side'. China on Monday reacted coldly to strong indications that the United States would back India for a membership of the NSG. The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying cautioned that any such move "requires very careful consideration from all member countries". Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Sunday said President Obama has assured him of strong US efforts in support of India's full membership of the four international export control regimes at the earliest, and indication of US backing for NSG membership. Politicos offer their condolences over the demise of legendary cartoonist RK Laxman

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Politicos on Tuesday mourned the death of eminent cartoonist RK Laxman, whose "You Said It" cartoon featuring the 'Common Man' lampooned India's powerful for half a century. Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that it is a great loss to the country. Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar also expressed his grief over the demise of Laxman. Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore and BJD leader Jay Panda also expressed similar sentiments. According to media reports, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will attend the last rites of Laxman, who will be accorded the state funeral in Pune. Spain, Jan 27 (ANI): Eight French nationals and two Greeks were killed and at least 21 people injured when a Greek fighter plane crashed during NATO training in Spain, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said. The F-16 crashed at about 3:20 PM shortly after taking off at a training centre in Albacete, 260 km (160 miles) southeast of the capital Madrid. The Greek fighter jet was carrying out a NATO training exercise at the Spanish base but something went wrong during the take-off. "The plane lost power, crashing into the parking area for planes, crashing into various planes that were parked there," the defence ministry said in a statement. Two pilots on board were among the dead and other pilots and mechanics were underneath the plane in the parking area, according to Spanish media reports. Indian cartoonist, Sudhir Tailang said that Laxman's demise was a major loss to the cartooning world. Obama is to speak on future of the bilateral ties between America and India. Speaking on "India and America: The future we can build together", Obama will take questions from the audience of at least 2,000 people, including members of the strategic affairs community and students. During the programme, Obama is also expected to meet Noble laureate Kailash Satyarthi. The event is expected to start around 10:45 AM and likely to go on for 45 minutes. Meanwhile, Delhiites will have to face another day of incessant traffic jams, around south Delhi’s Siri Fort auditorium and the Ring Road around South Extension.
