Kerala, March 10 (ANI): The state of Kerala, located in southern India, is not just a tourist hotspot but it is also the forerunner among Indian states in education, living standards, and harmonious coexistence. There is mutual affection and co-operation among different communities and people celebrate all festivals jointly with enthusiasm. Recently, the first International Folk Fest of Kerala was organised by the Cultural Department and the Kerala Folklore Academy with an aim to popularize the age-old traditional dance art forms of India and neighboring countries. The stage was set for various participants from different walks of life to showcase their breath taking performances. Workshop on various folk arts were also planned and held in between the fest. Kashmir, March 10 (ANI): The socio-cultural ethos of Kashmir is steeped in a tradition of religious tolerance and this is reflected at the annual Shiv Khori Mela held in Reasi district of Jammu. A three-day fair is organized annually in the temple of Mahadev or Lord Shiva. It attracts people of different faiths in large numbers from far and near. Every year the fair is organised by the State Tourism Department, Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SKSB) and the Reasi district administration. Hindus and Muslims come here to pay their respect to lord Shiva and seek his blessings. Handwara, March 10 (ANI): Two Lashker-e-Toiba militants were killed an Army officer was injured in an encounter between the two sides in Handwara area of Kupwara district in Kashmir, police said. The encounter took place when security forces cordoned off a house in Malikpora village in Vilgam area of Handwara, 85 kms from here, following information about presence of militants there. The police officer said the militants opened firing on security forces, who retaliated, triggering off a fierce gun battle.
