Former President poised to celebrate 84th birth anniversary of heritage train

Pune, June 01 (ANI): Former Indian President Pratibha Patil poised to celebrate 84th birth anniversary of the heritage train Deccan Queen or Deccan Queen Express which was the pride of the British, as it connected two major cities of Mumbai and Pune in Maharashtra. To mark the occasion train model made in cake was cut by Patil and was distributed among the attendees. Locally known as "Dakhan ki Rani", it started its first journey as a deluxe train on June 01, 1930. The frames of the coach were manufactured in England but the coach itself was manufactured in a Mumbai's Matunga workshop, which still exists today and caters largely to the maintenance of the local trains. Indian marine exports cross USD 5 billion mark

Kochi, June 01 (ANI): The export of marine products from India reached an all time high of USD 5 billion during the fiscal year 2013-14. The increase in exports saw a sharp rise from the previous fiscal year's figure of USD 3.5 billion. Exports amounted to 983, 756 metric tonnes. The MPEDA, a statutory body under the central government, is a nodal agency for promotion of export of marine products from India. It is present in all the Maritime Provinces and is responsible for development schemes, aquaculture production apart from export promotion.
