AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal takes oath along with six cabinet ministers at Ramlila Maidan

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday took oath as the 8th Chief Minister of Delhi at Ramlila Maidan. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung. Along with Kejriwal, six other Aam Aadmi Party leaders - Manish Sisodia, Asim Ahmed Khan, Sandeep Kumar, Satyendar Jain, Gopal Rai and Jitender Singh Tomar were also sworn-in as cabinet ministers. After the oath taking ceremony, Kejriwal is heading towards Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi. He is expected to hold his first cabinet meeting at around 4 pm. Feb 14, 2015

Arvind Kejriwal takes oath as Delhi CM

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday sworned-in as the Chief Minister of Delhi. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung at the Ramlila ground. Unlike last year, where he took the Delhi Metro to reach the venue, today he was seen heading to Ramlila Maidan in a grey Innova car, flanked by his colleague Manish Sisodia. Six other Aam Aadmi Party leaders - Manish Sisodia, Asim Ahmed Khan, Sandeep Kumar, Satyendar Jain, Gopal Rai and Jitender Singh Tomar were also sworned-in as ministers. After the oath taking ceremony, Kejriwal will head to Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi. He is expected to hold his first cabinet meeting at around 4 pm. This will be Kejriwal's second term as Delhi Chief Minister. He had resigned in February last year after running a 49-day government with the support of Congress. Feb 14, 2015

Labourers protest against hydropower firm in Himachal Pradesh

Kinnaur, Feb 14 (ANI): Over 1300 tribal labourers marched down a mountain in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh against a hydropower firm, demanding wages, shelter and compensation. The protest against Jaypee Hydropower has now entered a month and is becoming aggressive with each passing day. Local administration deployed heavy security in the area as protesters became aggressive. Despite the freezing cold, labourers have been actively participating in the protest, demanding wages according to labour laws, protection, etc. As per the workers, the company has not provided them with shelter during the cold. The protest, which at first consisted wholly of employees, is now being joined in by around 18 villages in the Kinnaur area. Feb 14, 2015

India's first national tribal festival attracts visitors

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Visitors thronged India's first national tribal festival 'Vanaj', featuring around 900 artists across the country in New Delhi. The five-day event is being organised by the government to conserve and promote the distinctive cultures of the tribal by providing them a national platform. Tribal Affairs Minister, Jual Oram, urged media to given them adequate coverage. The carnival will run till February 18, showcasing the rich diversity in tribal art and culture. New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Supporters and well-wishers of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal are thronging the sprawling Ramlila Maidan, where he will take oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi this afternoon. The enthusiastic people of Delhi began gathering at the venue since early morning and resorted to unique antics to show their loyalty to Kejriwal. One man came dressed as a peacock, flaunting a hundred motifs of Kejriwal on his person. Some others took out a procession with a child dressed as 'mufflerman', the winter garb made famous by the AAP chief. Dharamsala, Feb 14 (ANI): Exiled Tibetans celebrated their Independence Day in Dharamsala, highlighting the national flag which is one of the most recognisable symbols of independent past. On February 13, 1913 the 13th Dalai Lama reasserted Tibetan independence in the declaration of the Proclamation of Independence. Tibetans and their supporters proudly raised the national flag in 30 cities around the world to celebrate the independent past and to challenge China’s propaganda about their history. India Army chief commemorates bicentenary of Gorkha regiment

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Indian army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag on Saturday laid wreath at war memorial to commemorate 200 years of Gorkha regiment. The Gorkha regiment was set up by British government for their valour and fighting ability to protect the empire.
