Opposition says elections in flood hit J&K should be delayed

New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): Congress party said on Wednesday (October 15) that elections in flood affected state of Jammu and Kashmir must not take place until normalcy returns. CPI leader Atul Anjan, also said elections should be delayed. However, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), reportedly, wants to have elections across the state as scheduled as it feels the rescue and rehabilitation work conducted by it in Jammu and Kashmir might help boost its image. Supreme Court slams Centre over Ganga cleaning project

New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday slammed the Centre over the Ganga cleaning project and questioned about its vision for the project. During the hearing of the case, the apex court asked the Centre whether it has a vision which is similar to that of Delhi Metro former chairman E Sreedharan. Visitors flock Jim Corbett National Park as it reopens post Monsoon

Ramnagar, Oct 15 (ANI): Visitors flocked to see tigers roaming free and wild in the world famous sanctuary at Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand as it reopened on Wednesday after four months of closure because of the monsoon. According to Deputy Director, Corbett Tiger Reserve, Dr Saket Badola, the Bijrani zone has been reopened today while the other zones will reopen on 15th of November. Jim Corbett National Park was established in 1936 to safeguard the endangered tiger. It is primarily a tiger reserve but there are around 600 species of birds and animals - out of which 586 are birds. Corbett has been divided into four safari zones, namely Dhikala Zone, Jhirna Zone, Bijrani Zone and Durga Devi Zone. Oct 15, 2014

Islamabad, Oct 15 (ANI): Dozens of rights activists and residents of Pakistani capital took to the streets of Islamabad recently with lighted torches and candles to pay tributes to their young Nobel laureate, Malala Yousafzai. Malala, the Pakistani teenager, who was shot in the head by the Taliban in 2012 for advocating girls' right to education won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize on October 10, along with Indian campaigner against child trafficking and labour Kailash Satyarthi. Yousafzai, aged 17, becomes the youngest Nobel Prize winner and 60-year-old Satyarthi the first Indian-born winner of the accolade. Chanting "Provide education for children, or leave your chairs", the crowd demanded that the government takes on girls' education on a war footing. Yousafzai was attacked in 2012 in a school bus in the Swat Valley of northwest Pakistan by masked gunmen as a punishment for a blog that she wrote for the BBC's Urdu service as an 11-year-old to campaign against the Taliban's efforts to deny women education.
