Police arrest Maoist commander in Ranchi

Ranchi, Oct 14 (ANI): In a special operation Jharkhand police arrested a Maoist commander who was part of more than fifty militant activities in the region. The police received information that two Maoist groups would be meeting near the Joomla hill area in Ranchi on October 11. An operation was launched by the police and the area was surrounded. He added that around 75 mines had been recovered in the area along with arms and ammunition. Vizag, Oct 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired a high level meeting to take stock of situation in Andhra Pradesh after the Cyclone Hudhud hit the state. PM Modi lauded the meteorological department for making efficient use of technology in predicting the intensity of the cyclone and thereby mineralizing the effect of the same. He condoled the death of people and announced compensation for the victims. He said that ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured from the PM relief fund.
