New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): Political leaders reacted on Sunday as Vibrant Gujarat Summit-2015 is being held in Gandhinagar. Minister of State in Parliamentary Affairs Mukkhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Narendra Modi's government has promoted Make in India concept through Vibrant Gujarat summit to enhance trade and business in the country. BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that any other state can also conduct its own summit to promote business. Meanwhile, Congress leader PC Chacko said that PM Modi always turns to Gujarat as if it is the country’s capital. He added that such summits have taken place earlier in other states too, so Gujarat is not the only one. Jan 11, 2015

Woman attacked with acid in Delhi, Social activists condemn

New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): Social activists on Sunday strongly condemned the acid attack on a 30-year-old woman that took place in North West Delhi's Keshav Puram area. According to the reports, the woman suffered severe burns when two bike-borne men threw acid on her. One of the accused arrested by the police has been indentified as the woman's landlord. NCW former chairperson Mamta Sharma said that there is a need for better implementation of laws relating to women. Social Activist Jagmati Sangwan and Annie Raja also expressed similar sentiments. Lucknow, Jan 11 (ANI): BSP leader Haji Yakub Qureshi has justified Paris terror attacks saying that whoever shows disrespect to the Prophet will invite death. After this, UP police has announced cash reward to the team which arrests Qureshi as his remark was against humanity. IPS Officer Amitabh Thakur said that he will be giving personal cash reward of Rs 20,000 to the police team which arrests Qureshi as his statements were against humanity. Complaint lodged against teacher after she strip-searched students on suspicion of theft in Gurdaspu

Gurdaspur/New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): A female teacher in a government school in Gurdaspur district of Punjab has been booked for strip-searching seven girls after she suspected them of stealing 500 rupees from her wallet. When the accused teacher could not find the money after frisking the girls, she asked them to pay a fine of rupees 50 each in order to recover her loss. The incident came to light when the students narrated their ordeal to their parents, who then complained about the incident to the police. Recalling the unfortunate incident, one of the victims, Kajal, said that they were strip-searched thrice by the teacher. The parents of the students were surprised by the behaviour of the accused teacher when they confronted her. They accused her of threatening them. Jan 11, 2015

Kerry met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on stage when the summit was going on. He also greeted Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and shared the dais with other eminent personalities and business leaders present there. The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon will be the keynote speaker on the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. Vibrant Gujarat Summit-2015 is focused at forging knowledge-based strategic partnerships. Polling underway in Delhi Cantonment Board elections

New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): Polling has begun for the Delhi Cantonment Board elections amid elaborate security arrangements on Sunday. Polling began at 8 am in the morning and will go on till 5 pm in the evening. 64 candidates are in fray for eight seats across Delhi Cantonment with Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) being the major political parties contesting the elections. Cantonment Board elections are being seen as a precursor to assembly elections through which political parties will gauge the public mood. The counting of votes will be held on January 12. NDFB(S) platoon commander killed in encounter

Kokrajhar, Jan 11 (ANI): Self-styled platoon commander of tribal militant group National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sonobijit) was killed in an encounter with joint team of police and armed border force in Assam. Identified as Jwblang, he was involved in the December 23 attack on Pakhriguri village in Assam in which five tribal people were also killed. Last month over 80 people were killed in militant attacks in different districts of the northeastern state. Police believe that a faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), was behind coordinated attacks on tea plantation workers and their families. A joint operation was launched by police and armed border force, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), near Khawsibazar area under Serfanguri police station in which the militant was killed. Jan 11, 2015

Raipur, Jan 11(ANI): An encounter between security personnel and Maoists in Chhattisgarh left one policeman dead and four others injured. The incident happened in Narayanpur district of the state when joint team of police and Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) were out on an operation after receiving information about the movement of Maoists in the area.
