Maoists burn five heavy vehicles in Jharkhand

Khunti, Sep 14 (ANI): A Maoist organisation, Peoples Liberation Front of India (PLFI), torched five heavy vehicles and one car in Khunti district of Jharkhand. PLFI called for a shutdown in Jharkhand resulting in total collapse of the transportation system in Latehar district on Sunday (September 14). PLFI had announced a 48- hour strike starting from Saturday-Sunday midnight. Six vehicles torched on Sunday included five road construction machines and a car of the construction company engaged in construction work in the Khunti district. A local, Satish Kumar said that he was frightened when the Maoists banged the door at night and forcefully opened the door. Sep 14, 2014

Patna/ Imphal, Sep 14 (ANI): Chief Minister of Bihar, Jitan Ram Manjhi said on Sunday that he has spoken to Home Minister Rajnath Singh over the attack on students studying in northeastern state of Manipur. Reportedly, some students of Manipur attacked students of Bihar studying in National Institute of Technology (NIT) in the northeast over some dispute. Manjhi said he has requested Singh to ensure the safety of the students Bihar. In the aftermath of the fight, the Education Department of Manipur has issued an order asking authorities at NIT Manipur to take immediate necessary action to prevent recurrence of further unwanted fights among its students. Meanwhile, students' wing of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) had imposed an indefinite curfew on non-locals in pursuance of its demands for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur.
